    Hi all

Im just looking for peoples past experiences and/or maybe some advise on normal waiting times on procedures like this.

I recently went for a job with a company and whilst I have been told by the recruitment company that I have been successful in the interview process, i have yet to hear back from the company about the position. It is going on two weeks now and the position i was going for was un filled so i presume it would of been in the companies best interest to fill it asap.

I contacted the recruitment person i have gone through for the role last week asking for an update. I was told that they are doing up the comtract and as soon as they had it done up she would get back to me with the offer. Im just relatively new in my career and not much experience with this whole process. Is this normal to wait this lenght of time for the actual job offer? Bear in mind i have been told i am the successful candidate for the role.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you been given a start date?

    Hi

No nothing like that has been put to me. I simply have been told that i have been successful on the interview process and that they are processing a contract/offer. Is this normal? Its all been done through a recruitment company too so tbh I have not actually ever heard from the company. Just getting a bit worried now because it has been a couple of weeks.

You have a job when you sign a contract (and even then, the company can pretty much let you go at any time up until the end of your probation period). Keep following up with the recruitment company, but other than that, there's not a lot you can do. Some HR departments are just slow, and they can often be dependent on other departments. Definitely don't make any big decisions assuming you have the job (e.g. signing a lease) until, at a minimum, you have a signed contract. And there's no harm continuing your job search until then

All depends on what the company,, contracts can take a while to process sometimes.

I'd be asking for a start date, that's almost as important. If they can't give you a start date then it's all very wishy-washy.

Definitely be cautious of that offer until contracts actually in front of you. Keep applying for other jobs in the meantime. A friend went through something similar recently. Said she had an offer but they kept requesting more references /healthcheck/passport/proof of residency( Irish citizen), proof of English language requirements ( native speaker wasn't enough and educated in Ireland) etc etc. which she gladly gave them. Then one day she got an email saying she hadn't provided another document (which she hand delivered!) and the job had been recinded. She emailed them back and they didn't respond I don't think the job ever existed and is being continually advertised for.
