Do you sleep with your bra on?

So I see all over Facebook etc cartoons and pictures about "that moment when you get home and can take off your bra".
Or "when you're friend invites you out on a Saturday night but you've already taken off your bra".

Am I the only person who keeps their bra on 24-7? Including sleeping in it.

It stems from about 20 years ago I read an article about martine mccutchen where her beauty tip was sleep in your bra as it keeps your boobs firm and perky. And twenty years later I believe her!

I find it quite uncomfortable to have on in bed so I sleep with it off, unless a lot of alcohol has been consumed and I can't manage the clip

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,653 ✭✭✭✭amdublin

Yeah I think you do get used to it one way or another. I can't sleep without it tbh. I feel cold!

Jesus no. I would feel very uncomfortable with it on. I don't wear underwear under pyjama's either, which most women do for some reason.

    It depends.

Generally, no. But if I'm sharing a room with someone I wouldn't feel comfortable with seeing the girls, then I do.

God no, the front door is barely closed behind me before the damn thing comes off :pac:

Not a chance, by evening time I need comfort and freedom. A bra would be too restrictive.

Does it really make any difference to how firm they are anyway?

I don't find my bras uncomfortable but I don't wear them to bed. I have not noticed any perk or firmness issues thusly far!

There's no way I could sleep in my bra. Sure would you not have clasps and straps digging into you? My boobs are huge, too, so trying to sleep on my stomach with the boobs having no way to get out of the way would be a nightmare.

Surely you need to let the skin breathe, too? I'd also find it really weird to put my bra back on after... sexy times.

Well horses for courses. I like my boobs firm :)

But she asked does it make any difference TO how firm your boobs are. Aside from Martine McCutcheon's beauty "tip".

    Sorry! Completely misunderstood the question!!!!!

Ok so maybe I'm biased but I personally think my boobs are firmer than my friends who don't wear a bra in bed.
Now obviously there's no science behind that. Maybe that would have happened anyway even if I hadn't worn it for the last twenty years.

Alas, I'm not on breast-fondling terms with most of my friends.

No definitely not. All my bras are underwired too so it would be way too uncomfortable.

What's the deal with "firm" boobs? They're meant to be soft and squishy and just... lovely. :D:D:D

(kidding! whatever floats anyones boat is super great. No body shaming here :))

I take my bra off as soon as I get into comfy clothes when I get home. If I don't leave the house for a day, then my bra stays off and I stay in comfy clothes (usually a tshirt, hoodie, pj bottoms or loose trackies). My ma has giant boobs and is permanently in a bra. That's no life!

I leave my bra on until I go to bed, but I wouldn’t sleep in it. I’ll occasionally wear a sports bra in bed though, usually when I have my period and my boobs are feeling tender.

    My boobs are huge

Mine too and with what they have to put up with being managed during the day, I feel it's only fair to give The Girls a bit of freedom at night. :pac:

Definitely not, the bra comes off before bed every night. I never feel the urge to whip it off as soon as I get home either though unless the bra is a bad fit and a bit tight or is an irritating material but I try to avoid these when making a purchase :)

    :)

Mine are huge too. I guess it's whatever is comfortable for you - I feel really uncomfortable with them loose. And also feel like my nipples get chaffed.

I like them feeling supported. I guess this might be like the difference between boxers and briefs for fellas??

Only if I fall into the bed as pished as a fart and don't manage to take anything off at all :pac:

I've never got this either and have always wondered what kind of instruments of torture some women are wearing, cause I'm far comfier in a bra than out of one. Including in bed.

Actually, you just reminded me, I get out of the bra but I wear vests with "secret support" at home. But for bed ... it's au naturel :)

I'm normally comfortable in my bra so I don't have the 'take it off the minute I get in the door' thing & besides, as I'm a G/GG cup, I find it easier to have them under control.

However, come pj time (around 10o'c), that's it - off with the bra (and knickers) and into the pjs.

I wear my bra to bed. I feel a lot more comfortable with it on. I got a new bra last week and it doesn't feel like I'm wearing one at all, it's so comfortable. I wouldn't be the most chesty person though but after breastfeeding twice, I hate them sliding over me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

I hate wearing a bra in bed, needing one to hold breast pads in place overnight was one of the worst things about the first few months of breastfeeding. The ladies need to roam at night!

Haha I'm the opposite, when I'm that drunk I usually find myself waking up completely naked usually on top of the covers and freezing! :P

No bras in bed for me. Or in the house if I'm planning to chill. The only exception is if we've company (we meaning me and my fella rather than me and my boobs!) because without a bra my nipple bar is pretty obvious. It's not that I find the bra massively uncomfortable, especially now that I have ones that fit so perfectly, I just like the freedom! I also don't understand how people can sleep in socks or those god awful onesies that my sister is mad about. Usually I'm just in a nightdress and knickers, or a pj bottoms and a tank top in winter. I'd feel weird without knickers though.

I have what I call my "sleeping bras" which are not bras really, more like a cropped tank top/bralette thingy. No wires or clasps, just a pull it on over your head jobby.

I also have a fuller bust, so I think I just like some support if I'm mooching around in my pajamas.

I used to until i was in my mid-twenties. Then i stopped, no idea why! I could still sleep with it on though.

Now im trying to remember why i stopped!

Its just a comfort thing. Like taking off your shoes or putting on a tracksuit or something a bit less restrictive.

I always take my bra off when I get into my pyjamas which could be 8 oclock some days. My bras are fairly comfortable but there is something so satisfying about taking it off.

Don't see the point of wearing one in bed (they don't really need to be supported then?), and it's uncomfortable too. I don't take mine off the moment I come home, but it comes off when I put my jammies on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭Bambi985

Will you change your bra the next day OP? I would hope so. Wearing it that long doesn't sound all that hygienic.

I'd instinctively take mine off before going to bed, but have never had the urge to fling it off the second I'm in the door. I have a sizeable pair of knockers too so it wouldn't be comfortable to walk around bra-less, even at home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭DoozerT6

I used to sleep with my bra on - can't remember why I did that, or why I stopped!

I don't take my bra off as soon as I come in the door, I'm busty so the melons need support until I have my shower at night - after which the jammies (sans bra) go on. I couldn't walk around my apartment during the day with no bra on - too sweaty!!!

I'm with you on this one OP :)

TBH, if a bra feels uncomfortable then it's the wrong size. It should make you more comfortable, not less!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,737 ✭✭✭✭kylith

I've big boobs, so there's not a thing in the world will make them firm or perky, not since my teens :D

I don't find my bra uncomfortable but I don't put one on at weekends or if I'm slobbing around at home. I definitely don't sleep in it. I seem to recall hearing a few years ago that sleeping with one on restricts your blood flow. Not to mention having a sweaty cleavage. There was a French study a few years back that showed women reported firmer boobs and less pain when they stopped wearing a bra, due to the underlying muscles actually being put to use, which they are not when a bra is worn.

Bra comes off (and knickers) as soon as pj's go on. Usually no later than 8pm when kids go to bed. The girls are free as a bird and there's no better feeling 😉

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭metaoblivia

Nope, the bra comes off immediately when I come home. And at least once a week, it doesn't ever go on. I'm a 30F, so decent size, but still smaller framed. Also, the girls are wonderfully perky. I chalk that up to genetics and not having kids.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,306 ✭✭✭threetrees

I have only worn a bra to bed when I was pregnant or needed breast pads. My bras are comfortable so I don't feel the need to escape from them but there is something liberating about taking off my bra at bedtime. Also, after an evening swim session at the pool I never put my bra back on, just let them (ahem) hang loose under my t shirt and hope I'm not stopped by a guard on the way home!

I'm usually yanking it off the minute I walk through the door while simultaneously kicking off my shoes.

There's zero chance I'd be wearing one to bed. I like to let the twins loose. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,624 ✭✭✭✭meeeeh

There are a lot of euphemisms for breasts floating around.

Anyway no bra, no make up. Regardless how tired I am I always remove make up and take off bra. I would feel very uncomfortable otherwise.
