I got myself the original huawei watch this week as don't fancy the sport look of the new one. It's a great piece of kit and surprised at how impressed i am with it.
I have been reading a great many threads on android wear but not found many so thought would start this one to see how people are finding them and to share any tips, tricks and worthy android wear apps

I've got a LG Watch Urbane since November. Love it! Very useful for a quick glance at notifications, answering/denying calls and changing music on spotify etc. Can't ever go back to a normal watch!

In the market for Android Smart watch and was looking at Huawei or possibly Fossil. In the States soon so checking out a few options

Where did you get your Huawei from as was looking at them on Amazon

Snap (apart from the States bit), I was also looking at the Withings Steel HR, but this has it's own OS.
By the way Android Wear 2 is coming soon and I think both the Urbane and the Huewai are suitable for this.
Really interested in either of the Urbane or Huewai any issues with either?

I got a Moto 360 as a Christmas present the year before last. Nice, slick bit of kit. I don't use it that much. Battery life isn't wonderful at about a day, but the coolest thing it does is show Google Maps on my wrist. :D

I see you have it 4 months and the novelty hasn't warn of. Is it bulky and what colour did you get?

I mean, I have small hands and wrists and I have just grown used to it, and think its the perfect size now. Its not bulky really, thicker then an average dumb watch but thats expected. I got silver, looks gorgeous.

I got mine through a lightening deal on Amazon. It is due android wear 2.0 thankfully as this is supposed to be a massive overhaul of the os so glad this watch is compatible

Looked at Fossil Q smart watch and although nice looking black line at bottom of face put me off.

Huawei looks like the best but only seen video's online never held one.

Keeping eye on Amazon but anywhere else that may have them?

Anyone use the Sony Smartwatch 3? I'm looking for a wear watch that I can use for running.
It's needs to have GPS and storage for music/podcasts as I wanna leave my phone at home.

I'd look more towards the Casio android wear watches. The sony smartwatch 3 isn't getting android wear 2.0 and stuff now, it was a strange watch :p

I have a Sony smartwatch 3, i stopped using it about 6 months ago because successive wear updates just broke more things, killed battery life, constant disconnections and kept screwing up my phone contacts by crapping out while syncing.
It was grand when i got it but the wear updates made it very unreliable, let's face it an unreliable watch is just a bracelet.
Personally I would wait until wear 2 lands and Google demonstrate that they can actually support the platform properly and are willing to do so.

Anyoneknow were I can buy replacement strap iv tried number of sites no sucess even tried sony very unsually and they make them watches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,785 ✭✭✭Irish Gunner

Just bought the watch from Amazon Uk and bought a charger and got it working. Followed all the instructions and synched the watch with my phone (one plus one on RR Rom).

Also change it to developer options and also checked unknown sources. Also downloaded the android wear app onto phone.

However I don't have the Play app store on my phone and it looks like not all contacts have synched and only certain apps fed in. Did all the power off etc and also unpaired phone and same issue. Also updated to latest Android Wear

Cannot find anything on web and just found this forum and trying to find if I am missing something etc as it states in manual it does support facebook, twitter etc but I cannot get these apps loaded onto watch.

    Any help appreciated

Is there such a thing as an Android Wear watch for about €100 that will get Wear 2.0?

I just want it mainly as fitness tracking and notifications...

It was the same with mine at first, slow to touch, done factory reset on watch and uninstalled the android wear app and reinstalled, no issues at all.

I do like the samsung but crazy money

My LG G Watch R is running fine with 2.0.
Once I got used to the new layout it's been great. The new default watch faces with little widgets are great.

Hey guys I have a Moto 360 v1 for the last 2 years I love it but I notice one or two things getting laggy and I'm missing some notifications for some reason.

So an LG Urbane showed up on HotUkDeals last night for £113 from Amazon and I couldn't resist, purely because it's getting android wear 2.

Anyone have any experience with both of these that could point out if I've made a good move or a bad move.

    Thanks

Expected the moto gen 2 to be updated to AW 2.0 by now. Disappointing that it's taking so long.

What are the main differences with AW 2.0?

I got the update on my Huawei W1 watch. Have wear 2.0 now. When u click on software updates and the green screen with a tick comes up saying software up to date. Then keep tapping that screen numerous times and I got the new available update.

I just got Wear 2.0 on my Moto 360 Gen 2.

Looks good so far, although the watch got really hot during the update.

I didn't get an Android Watch for a number of reasons:
    1. don't want notifications on my watch... I've turned most of the off on my phone. Theres rarely any urgency in picking up messages that can't be handled from the phone.
    2. Maps are limited... this is one of two reasons a smart watch could be useful... walking directions
    3. I could appreciate a scenario where I could leave my phone behind and use the watch for music playback... is this a function yet?
    4. Having to plug my watch in every night is a pain in the bollix... why can't they be kinetic or solar
    5. I already have a couple of nice automatic watches that tell the time, date etc... and they look much better than a smart watch... I wear a different one depending on my mood, my atire or my cloths...
    6. To be truly useful a smartwatch needs to be worn constantly... so is not interchangeable with other watches, and dominates your wearing cycle
    7. I haven't seen one that is a beautiful piece of jewelry like a watch... they are usually cheap materials and detailing and are intended to be replaced every two years... I haven't seen the Mont Blanc in person, so can't comment on it, but the TAG isn't even that great

It depends on your circumstances, really. In my job, I attend a lot of meetings. Tending to your phone when a meeting is on is rude, a subtle check of the watch is less obvious.

Yes, on a lot of models.

I get 3 days out of my Motorola 360 2nd gen.

Me too. I just see the smartwatch as an addition to that selection.

I wouldn't necessarily agree. See your previous point.

Some of the current watches are becoming more watchlike. I chose my Motorola 360 for that reason.

If you read the reviews of the TAG watch, they are quite dismissive of it. It's an overpriced turkey aimed at people with way more money than sense. And I particularly loved the line that if you shell out another 1500 Euro (after shelling something in that region for the smart version), you can get a "real" Tag Heuer.

I'm keeping an eye on black Friday for the Vivoactive 3. I got the original for £99 on black Friday a couple of years ago.

If the main thing you want your smartwatch to track is fitness then your probably better off with a dedicated fitness tracker as Android wear isn't really focused on that.
What it is great at is notifications and Smart home control kind of stuff with Google assistant.

I have the Moto 360 Sport watch which I bought with the hope of being able to track my jog and listen to music (over Bluetooth headphones) without needing to bring my phone with me but it's not very accurate and the headphones constantly lose connection so the music keeps pausing which is very annoying.

I would only recommend Android Wear to people who are more into them for the geeky stuff and not as a fitness tracker.
