    Hi folks,
Mulling figures on a new Octavia. Would the 115 bhp dsg be seriously underpowered compared to the 150 bhp? Diesel

I have a manual at the moment but thinking I'd like an auto as enjoy driving them.
    Cheers,
    Mick

Thanks colm, what's the dsg in the octavia like? I've driven a 150bhp superb dsg so should be same?

DSG is the job. Has been for years.
It's really a question of 1.6 vs 2.0 engines. I just know you won't end up with the 1.6.

I am curious to see the depreciation on your Civic. Especially considering all you spent on upgrading it.

Im not curious I'm depressed :) figures might not work at all. Honda dealer offered me 19k...

Very limited market unfortunately. You'd imagine if anyone could find a buyer for it it'd be a Honda main dealer.

19k isn't to bad... The pcp finance rate is much better with skoda.. 1.9 on the new Octavia
.. 0 if I went for the old model... As I like tech I think it'd be the new model

Yep 142... The skoda calculator is still showing octavia at 0%.. Hasn't been updated yet?

Being offered 15,500 for my car from skoda garage. It's not a bad price in fairness but still doesn't leave me with much equity to start again. Without injection of money my pcp monthly would go up...

    hi folks,

Are there any dealers in Dublin or close counties that are both Skoda and Honda?

    Thanks,
    Mick

Bolands? Or are they different companies?

What were they offering you €19k against?

A new top spec 1.5 petrol civic... They don't have a monthly payment yet.. Still waiting on figures from Honda... So option is put extra in and by the 2.0 style dsg octavia with leather.. Or maybe petrol civic... Anyone know if it's possible to get leather fitted in octavia from factory? Dealer seems to be struggling to get price... Suggested using nolanautocare.ie... Who I think are great... Just would prefer factory switches for heated seats etc..

Leather can be had from the factory on the Octavia. Doesn't give you heated seats though, you need to get those separately but they're cheap to add. The leather isn't up to much in them, might be better off getting the sports seats instead.

Guess heated leather from Nolans might be way to go

No, but 2.0 comes with a massively better engine and gearbox.

What's massively better about the gearbox?

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't...

But even it is, and even when you want to trade in in 3 years, should you buy one that has bad smell behind?

The 1.6 had adequate power as its a fairly light car - also where the manual suffers being a 5 speed, the DSG is great at getting on the power

I think the price difference is less than 2k extra for the 2.0 so that would win me over I think but its not essential. If you are keen on leather maybe the L&K would be better option (though Im not sure on the pricing?)

Is it the estate you are looking at OP? If so then maybe take a look at the Seat Leon ST. Seat are doing 0% PCP on them at the moment until the facelift arrives in the summer. Same running gear as the Octavia.

But much smaller - the wheelbase alone is 5 cm shorter in the Leon.

Thanks - the L & K looks around 4k more expensive than the style.. and only seems to come in brown alacantra and leather interior? it has a few nice extras but im already over budget on the style with dsg... i cant seem to add leather on the car config tool on the skoda site to the style car...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,998 ✭✭✭micks_address

i dont know if its the configurator tool or what but its lets add me add a fair few extras with 0 cost..

I don't think so. I have a few from last year for the RS if they're any use? I'm working off those as I'm pricing up one at the moment. Shouldn't be too far out. Only have a few though.

I sent a mail off asking when they'd be up too earlier.

well im just trying to find out how much factory leather with heated front (maybe rear) seats would be on the style

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,076 ✭✭✭GustavoFring

Heated seats price I have here is 225, with rears I think it was double that. Worth adding the heated screen too IMO for about 250.

The factory leather wasn't cheap - think it was 1500-2000 but you'd really need to see it before making a decision.

Thanks - nolans fitted the leather to my Civic and its top quality.. the only downside is you dont get the heated seats wired with oem switches.. they usually fit to the panels somewhere around gearstick
Heated seats in front be a definite for me, the rear would be just to spoil the kids but they can live without..

ill try and see what else i can get added when ordering

so skoda leather heated front and back be around 1500? I think dealer is quoting me 1600 for nolans leather with frotn heated only

Heated steering wheel. And I would seriously consider Automatic Emergency Braking (~500 IIRC on the old model).

Around that. But the quality of the leather might not be the best though...

Yes the Skoda website states its leather with some artificial material

Get the sunset glass if you can. It's cheap and will help with kids in the back. About 200.

Footwell lights is about 20 quid - for nothing.

Taking an octavia on demo Monday for two days.. Brought family to look at one today and they are impressed with space inside comfort of seats and boot space. We are just debating colour combinations now. I was leaning towards a cream interior with cream leather but my wife wants black.. Few have said avoid dark exterior colours with black leather interior.. So we thinking red metallic with black inside.. Black metallic with black seats be bad idea? Also quite like the rally blue metallic... I thought that would look well with beige interior and beige leather..

    Hi folks,
I have a 150bhp style manual on demo. It has a sports pack which includes bi xenon lights 18 inch wheels and soon roof

I like the car to drive and really like the headlights. Anyone know what's the story with lights on new faclift style model? It talks about led lights but also halogen lights? These bi xenons are class though
. Are they q pricey extra?

Also it has sports seats. Are they generally more comfortable than the standard seats? I'll be getting leather fitted anyway so could. Probably order either typ of seat with the car... Decisions
    .. Thanks Mick

I'd say the facelift will probably have LED daylight running lights and halogens for dipped and full beam with xenon's as an optional extra on all models bar the RS and L&K. Xenons are usually an expensive option but well worth it imo especially if you do a lot of rural driving. I'd imagine full LED headlights are probably a more expensive option on top of that on the facelift model. Xenon bulbs are more expensive than halogen bulbs but they also last longer, they can be bought online for a fraction of the dealer's price. I would never go back to a car without xenon's again.

Did you price a RS as some of those options you listed would be standard on the RS so there might not be a huge difference in a standard RS v a Style with the options.

Thanks I'll price it... From the UK configuration tool looks like the xenons are a 960 pounds extra? Could they be that much?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Remember to add VRT on top of that to get an idea of the Irish price. Skoda might offer xenons as part of a lighting/visibility pack which would include adaptive headlights and/or high beam assist (automatic high beam).

I was going to post and say... just get an L&K... until I checked and saw that it is 8k more than a style. That is a big jump, I think it is more like 3-4k on the Superb.

Edit: the 150 DSG L&K is 4,500 more than the style. If you plan to spec heated seats, leather and xenons on a style... just buy the L&K

if i didnt push for a dsg box the l & k would come in at the same price as the car im specing up... really fancied an automatic this time around but most people tell me im daft and wouldnt bother with it unless im going for a superb... that the manual be more fun to drive in the superb... i guess its not always possible to have your cake and eat it

The headlight upgrade for the new model are LEDs I think. The Xenon's were about €1300 extra on the old model, I'd expect the LEDs to be similar.

It looks like full leather on the RS has been replaced with alcantara too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,998 ✭✭✭micks_address

yeah i expect they to be that much... hard to probably justify but they are really nice... i drive mostly around dublin so its never that dark... i upgraded the halogen in my civic to philips xtreme vision 130s and they were an improvemnet.. i think the octavia uses the same h7 bulb... have emailed dealer to see what the pricing is anyway...  i think id get more value out of the dsg than the xenons.. if it were an either or choice

Leather has been an option on RS for the last year or so at least.

Most people prefer half leather/half alcantara... I am moving to that from having full leather for the last 5yrs.

I just like the wipe clean nature of the leather... how would the alacantara hold up to wear and tear? i do like the idea of not having to sit on cold leather on winter mornings.. the heated seats do help...  opposite problem in summer with them being to hot on sunny days.... not a major problem given the limited number of hot sunny days we get and parking in the shade mitigates it where possible

It's always had a leather option yes, but it seems like it's been replaced by Alcantara on the facelift. And since the OP is ordering the facelift model......

I was told last week it wasn't possible to order leather on a facelift but it doesn't bother me as it was nasty pleather anyway.

Do you know if there are any accessory packs options on the face lift? I like the extras on this demo I have.. Sunroof, bi xenons and I actually find the sports seats very comfortable... Are they better than the standard seats? I assume they can still be upholstered aftermarket?

Back to the dealer tomorrow evening so will see what craic is then with extras

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,076 ✭✭✭GustavoFring

The was a pack for the sport seats. The basically the RS seats and well worth the upgrade imo over the standard ones.

The heated windscreen is well worth it, think it forces heated seats.

If you didn't mind the wheel size the 18 inch Alaris wheels are really nice.
