I've lived and worked in W Connemara and I have experienced its unique climate first hand. I recall one day in particular while on a day trip to Leenane just how heavy and intense the rain was for hours on end. Never seen anything like it before or since.

Back to Orkney -like weather then! Wondered why there were houses to rent! It really is different then?

Same with North Galway. Just made a short shower.

WIlton, Cork: 14:32, winds just picked up and have gotten very strong. Had a very heavy sleet shower about an hour ago, skies are starting to darken again.

EDIT: 14:45 here comes the sleet! Seems to get very windy when a shower is about to come

Seems to be a curious little spinning trough feature popping up on the sat and heading towards the NW coast?

Looks to be filling and not sure if it forecast?

The 12z Arpege has picked up on it, but I don't see it on any other models.

Is that the low that Gerry Murphy was talking about on the farming weather forecast that could hit land tonight in the south that was worth watching?

That little low is just approaching Buoy 62105 off the nw coast now. It will probably tighten the gradient along north Mayo and Donegal Bay in a few hours.

The 00Z ECMWF did have a little wiggle low forming in that area this afternoon alright. It doesn't amount to much afterwards.
