Ah that's a shame, if he wanted to play a proper open world game then Horizon Dawn is where it's at, pisses all over Zelda. :P

Virtual Console Has To Fix These Three Things In Order To Be A Success On The Nintendo Switch

    1. Reduce The Price Of Virtual Console Games

    2. No Drip-Feeding Of Virtual Console Releases

    3. Previous Virtual Console Purchases Need To Be Valid On The Switch

It's a card game of some description I think.

It's a card game of some description I think.

Never really got into it myself but it's supposed to be great for that type of game. Blizzard don't make bad games imo. It's free to play on PC/mobile, so would presumably be the same on Switch (or should be).

I usually don't give Pachter any time as he's a BS merchant and sometimes a $h1t stirrer. Anyway, I came across this story and used Google Translate for the title.

Michael Pachter believes that Nintendo Switch will sell more than Scorpio
Both will compete for the second position in the market, with PS4 as the leader.

Of course it will outsell the Scorpio. In India the past 33 days. Haven't seen a single backpacker with a switch yet. I'd love to play Zelda

    I haven't watched the video but, assuming the article is an accurate reflection;

    April 2017
    • Pachter says Switch can sell 13 million units in a year
    • Pachter praises Switch proposal as a portable console, which he says is "simply fantastic."

    Meanwhile, back in January 2017;

Pachter says Switch faces an uphill battle because of its "problematic" $299 price point and "underwhelming" slate of launch titles.

"Priced at $300, Switch is not a more affordable alternative to the PS4 and Xbox One. Initial pricing is likely to be problematic given an underwhelming slate at launch and the fact that the PS4 and Xbox One are consistently discounted at retail below their starting prices of $300 with a free software pack-in," believes Pachter.

"While Nintendo clearly relies upon the unique gameplay offered by the new device, it will need to convince a large audience that its newest device is more substance than gimmick in order to drive better long-term adoption than the Wii U saw."

Pachter says Switch hardware sales will reach one million in financial year 17, which ends March 31, although Nintendo has stated it will ship two million units in March. The following year Pachter forecasts Switch sales of five million units.

Beyond this, Pachter feels third-party support will be a key driver for continued Switch sales.

"Sales beyond the first year will be affected by third party software support; the underpowered Switch is unlikely to attract much," he explained.

Doesn't seem like there is too much to this expert analyst business. Predict calamity. If it doesn't occur, pick on the next weakest gazelle in the herd and predict that they are screwed.

A comparison of Switch to Scorpio to PS4 seems a bit weird anyway. Isn't Scorpio more like a souped up PS4 Pro than an entire new generation of console?

It's literally just a souped up PS4, that's the only real difference

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,811 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

Well, it's exactly like a souped up Xbox One, which will interest about three people in Japan.
I'd say they'll sell more Gameboy Advance consoles than Scorpio consoles over there in 2018.

That's what I thought. I've also read that while Xbox games will perform better on Scorpio than on Xbox One/One S, Scorpio won't (initially anyway), have it's own exclusives.

Scorpio will be expensive enough, won't have it's own exclusives, and will definitely require a decent tv and VR setup to get the most out of it.

I'd imagine that Nintendo would be hoping that the Switch would outsell the entire Xbox One stable, and that outselling Scorpio was a given. (And I might get a Scorpio!)

Unless the scorpio is a completely new console that can play XB1 games, it won't do much better than the XB1 (I think)
Considering this is gonna be a premium verison as is so more expensive as well.

Took the kids out to a play centre on Sunday. Coffee, choc-slathered slice of something, whipped out the switch and pro controller for 70 mins. Awesome. And let me tell you, I got plenty of attention from the ladies - so if you want more exhausted 36-42 year old women staring at you and mouthing "is that a grown man playing video games instead of paying attention to his kids, one of whom is singing the Segata Senshiro theme and punching a wall?" then I'm hear to let you know, the Switch is the way to go.

Also, you have no idea how hilarious it is watching 7 years olds trying to look nonchalant as they wander past your table for the tenth time in 5 minutes trying to figure out what you're doing (cause a switch without it's Neon ears on does not look like a Switch); they're so very bad at it. Many chairs were bumped into.

I think people were, for a good while, upgrading their Xbox One's and buying a PS4!

The Scorpio is a fancy XBox One, and has no real advantage over the resolution and processing bump, it runs the same games as the original.
With the expense of the Scorpio, you'd be better to buy a PC instead, it's getting the XBox One content and it'll play a lot more besides, for less money.

Headlines can say anything at all!

Seeing as the linked article itself is basing it's supposition on a single example of the damage reported on Reddit.

It should say "One person's Switch appears to be warped, for no apparent reason"

I'd be wondering if someone isn't using a heat gun on their devices to gain some attention.

I would treat this with a pinch of salt tbh, until the device is examined and the cause determined.

I doubt they are bending due to heat. Surely the unit would turn off from over heating far before the plastic would bend? I think the Switch has a thin metal plate in there too, that definitely isn't bending from heat.

Mine has a tiny curve too, and it's been docked very little.

Nintendo Switch consoles are apparently warping, ours included

    https://www.technobuffalo.com/2017/04/03/nintendo-switch-console-warping-bending/

I'd like to see if there's a slight curve on a new unit before it's used.
