Flight sim is now available to play on xcloud.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,383 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Would be pretty handy to play on xcloud as the game just isn't suitable for a couch/TV, really needs to be played at a desk with a mouse. I loaded it up on my mac though and my Hotas One X wasn't being recognised (probably an issue with the mac, I might need to configure it or maybe it just won't work on mac). More of a problem though is that the mouse cursor in game wasn't working with the mouse cursor on macOS, without that it's not really playable.

I found an unofficial extension for Chrome to map your keyboard/mouse to controller inputs but it's not really usable for Flight Simulator either unfortunately:

    https://idolize.github.io/xcloud-keyboard-mouse/

Looks like I'll just have to keep on moving my Xbox between rooms to play this, the effort 😱 Actually having an internal power supply on these modern consoles is great for moving them around, this just wouldn't be possible on the original Xbox One.

Tunic is out today, and despite them saying it wasn't going to be on GamePass less than a month ago, it's on GamePass day one

Gave Tunic a go. Not for me.

What did you not like about it? I will give it a go eventually but I'm into 8 games at the minute. I started some last year and haven't gone back to them yet but I will get around to it eventually. Nine if I include the Witcher but started that years ago and never went back to it. It's been sitting there on internal SSD ready to go back to but I just cannot bring myself to.

I didn't play it for long, so I don't have a strong opinion on it. I just ran around, fought some enemies, found a few caves, etc. I just wasn't into it.

Maybe it gets better as you play, but like you I've other games I want to play and not a lot of time to play them.

Curiosity got the better of me and I downloaded it. I'm liking it. Not really like anything I've personally played before, I'd imagine it's like a lot of the older Zelda games. Combat is straight forward, based on timing attacks. Game pushes you towards the main path, and upgrade you as you go. Instructions are like a little booklet that you pick up pages of, bit by bit, and most of it is in the in-game language but is done well enough to give you enough of an idea.

Haven't encountered a boss yet, or at least nothing to be considered a main boss. Plays really smooth, respawn is quick and checkpoints are not too bad. Story is minimal and doesn't tell you much. Saw people compare it to DS, and I can see the similarities, but so far I reckon it would be what DS would be like with an easy mode (so far!). I'll keep at it for now anyway.

Few more hours of Tunic. Got to the first "boss". Somehow managed to beat him first go so it's probably not a hard game, or those 2 ch. Its nice and quick and amazingly allows a sprint that only takes stamina for the initial roll. Didn't mention it in the first post, but it's visually stunning at times. I'm usually too taken in with the exploring, but at one point I opened a door using a level while inside a big building, and the doors opening suddenly flooded the room with light, slowly as they opened, lighting up the room in an extremely realistic way I thought. Made me take note of the rest of the game, and it's beautiful.

    I look forward to more!

GPU ran out today after 36 months, having done the upgrade etc. Hadn't kept an eye on it at all so it caught me off guard.

What's the best/most efficient/cheapest way to resubscribe these days?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

Buy another 3 years of gold and 1 month of gpu. Use a vpn for the gold if you want it a bit cheaper again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,747 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

Great, thanks. Presumably can accrue my Gold in whatever way possible, e.g. if I can find cheaper codes off 3rd party sites?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

Yeah, don't buy directly from MS or at retail here. You'll get cheaper subscription keys from CDKeys, Eneba etc.

Thanks, got my codes from Gamivo and got the years of GPU for just under €145, so 4 quid a month instead of 14.

Think I could have got it even cheaper if I bought my Live Gold from Brazil but i had some issues before with codes and VPN and my Xbox region all being in conflict so didn't want to risk it.

Love Gamivo for their Argentinian pricing on games

I wonder do they factor in Microsoft Rewards into their data. Since starting collecting Rewards I've fired up a game loads of times to just get the Reward to Pop and close it again. Same with achievements based ones, Play game, achievement pops and turn it off again.

Just finished Guardians of the Galaxy. It was good. I'm a fan of the Guardians humour anyway, so that helped. Some niggles - namely the fighting mechanic was repetitive, and some of the audio would glitch if you look away or move camera. The cut scenes were quite long in places too. Having said that, the game was much longer than I expected, and the story was good fun. Much better than the Avengers game too.

Started playing Rainbow six siege last night on a whim. Playing on the newcomer playlist and it's a lot of fun. Difficult but having lot of fun playing it, haven't encountered any toxic players yet but doubt I'll get into or play any ranked games so hopefully will avoid all that.

Playing Mass Effect 1 Legendary Edition on XBox Series X.

    I like it.

So far, it's way way better than Halo Infinite for me in so many ways.

Im not into movie games. I tried ME1 and spent the first few hours watching cut scenes.

I thought the gameplay was clunky and dated.

    Not for me.

I've been through quite a few action sequences now and there are several side quests unveiled I can do, across the galaxy. The story and characters are good.

Yep, the combat is clunky. I believe that gets better in the second game. I almost didn't bother going past the first part of the game, but am sucked in now.
