Hypothetically if a company didn't want (or had funds to) renew their AV licencing for a Windows 2012 domain what are their options ??

I'm an IT consultant and I have to sort out a short to mid term solution pretty quick smart. Any suggestions ?

    Hi!

What operating systems are we talking about?
    What quantity of each?
What management of the AV solution do you require or desire?

At least on the endpoints, they could use Forticlient.
    http://www.forticlient.com/
which is lightweight, and I suggest more capable than the usual suspects like avast.
It's intended to work in conjunction with Fortigate firewalls which are decent enough corporate hardware kit for management, reporting and vpn purposes.
