Hi folks. I had relatives on yesterday mornings flight out from Dublin. They diverted to a military base near Abu Dhabi and had all of their luggage siezed under "bond?" and searched. Told nothing and then put on a bus and shipped to the main airport with zero explanation as to what happened.

Any ideas why the aircraft was diverted?

Very strange indeed. I don't know why it diverted but you can see the flight profile here:

That military base is much closer to Dubai than Abu Dhabi. Perhaps there was some sort of serious customs issue or even a terrorist threat which forced them to divert there.
