    Male Gorilla 160kg
    Male Bengal Tiger 220kg

When I was in Sumatra, they said the only animal that would try to defend itself against a tiger was a large male orangutan. I'd go with the gorilla though.

Tiger would have one shot at an attack if he gets it wrong and the gorilla grabs a hold of him its game over

I would love the Gorilla to win though - Vegetarian power!

I don't think the tiger has any prey that would stand and fight so I think it would just back off unless it was starving. If the tiger got a bite in around the the head/neck or mauled one of the gorillas arms it wound be game over. I don't think there is any evidence a gorilla could take on a foe 40% heavier than it.

I believe they put a bear up against a tiger in America quite often and the bear won easily each time as it was able to crush the tigers skull with it's strength.

Yeah see I don't think the big cats have any fight game. Theyre efficient killers but they don't have any call for getting in scraps.

I think a tables ladders and chairs match is the only solution here. With the snow leopard as guest referee

Car 99 would bore both of them to death

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,455 ✭✭✭maudgonner

The gorilla would pull out a laser pointer or a ball of yarn and it would be game over for the kitty.

Gorrilla, I hear he was training with Bjj blackbelts to improve his ground game

That was a grizzly. Tigers prey on sloth bears in SE Asia.

I don't know about that. I guess a gorilla has muscle power like an industrial press. But did you ever try to hold an ordinary house cat that was freaked out by something? They have incredible strength and are like a fkn eel. Now multiply that by 25. :o

It'd be quite a spectacular fight I reckon.

I remember a story from my childhood of a woman who kept 2 chimps as pets until one day 1 of them ripped her arms off.
Not the only time this has happened over the years and a chimp is only a fraction the size of a gorilla

Oh I know that. An angry chimp could just rip your arms off. I guess it comes from the ability to swing from one tree to another. Some animals are incredibly powerful. All I'm saying is the same applies to the cat.

You would have to go with the tiger. Weight advantage, natural hunters/carnivores, claws on all limbs. Wouldn't the silverback just have to try to wrestle it into submission?

When I was a kid I had my face up to the glass at the gorilla enclosure in dublin zoo. The silver back ran over and boxed the glass where my face was. He hit it some belt. I think the gorilla would win ; )

Depends on the scenario. Tiger is quicker and is usually a swift ambusher and could get a hold of his neck.... but if the gorilla gets a clear whack at him with those arms, would be different.

But what about the weird guy at the beach that went to the dentist after he stopped his car in the road?

They'd probably just avoid each other.

Are they armed or us it just a bare paw fight?

Cats are by nature sleveens so would probably have a knife tucked away somewhere

The gorilla is a more honest fighter

Sure Lions must be able to kill Gorillas seeing as they both live in Africa.

Lions live on the Savannah, Gorilla's live in the mountains and forests so I don't think they would ever cross paths in Africa.

I've seen a gorilla and bear slog it out and the bear wins by default -

The Tiger only needs one swipe.

The Gorilla was smart enough to throw a boulder at the bear though. Remarkable footage.

Pretty sure Gorillas are omnivores actually. They'll eat meat too if they can get their hands on it. There are also cases of cannibalism in the ape world too.

I'd say the Bengal Tiger would win if it got its moment to pounce on the gorilla but the gorilla being a more intelligent and resourceful animal could escape pretty easily and hide up a tree.

Yes, it's a wonderful piece of camerawork. Looks like something from the 80s.

That gorilla looks about as real as Santa Claus, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that's a man in a gorilla suit and a tame bear play fighting with him.

Tiger is simply too fast, heavier, stronger, has claws and much bigger fangs. Gorilla might land a lucky punch, 9/10 times its a tiger.

A more interesting fight would be Jaguar vs Gorilla.

    Rhino vs Hippo

    Leopard vs 3 Wolves
