Sail boat rescued off Cork

What on earth was he at - 16 miles offshore, on his own, out of food and water, in that weather, in mid-february, mildly hypothermic, with three holes in his boat???

Any one or two of those i could see, but the whole lot???

Reading the comments on FB I think he left Cardiff heading for Ireland. He signalled to Rescue 117 he didn't need assistance then after a chat with the Navy he decided to come off the boat.
