Just applied, application form slightly different this year, need reference from previous TCO stint, I wonder would this cut the need for going to dublin for a 5 minute chat?

Get a Secure Connection failed error when I click continue..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭ravingitup

So did I, Copper_pipe. Anybody else get the secure connection error too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40 al67

I did on firefox but worked for me on chrome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40 al67

Likewise - read through it a couple of times and can't see where it mentions the reference. I'm just going to post it in anyway and give my candidate ID.

Did you manage to get an actual reference or was it just a certificate of employment? (I have both). Absolutely nothing in the information booklet with reference to this! Going to email PAS tomorrow to confirm.

I have nothing from most recent stint, after reading information booklet it says there is a possibility of phone interview

    I seen that alright.

Last year I didn't have to go to Dublin for interview, if I remember correctly the application form did ask if I had been previously interviewed by PAS and worked as a TCO and to specify the Department and dates you worked. I was a TCO in
2015 so was interviewed last year in the same department I was assigned to.

Don't remember having to send or post previous references to PAS though.

I'm just wondering what number they will go to on the 2016 panel before starting the 2017 panel. I am still waiting from the 2016 panel and my number is 10 away from being called. Should I apply again?

I was just looking at that. I'm a TCO since 2014. Better get on that today! Hopefully no trips to Dublin.

Same thing happened to me using Mozilla so I did it with Chrome and it worked ok. On another note, I have gone over the information booklet twice and I can't find anything in relation to sending references in to PAS if you previously worked as a TCO. On the application form at this question it said see the booklet, but I can't find anything, if I missed it and someone else sees it can you please let me know. Thanks.

No I read through the whole booklet as well and couldn't find anything about it either.

    I got a response saying "
Many thanks for forwarding your reference." so I presume that's all that has to be done.

You should apply again I think they will keep calling people from the 2016 panel until the 2017 panel is in place so that could be march/April, u should apply just in case but u still have a very good chance of being called if your only 10 away.

I can't log in because I had registered about 10 years ago so now my email and pps number are already registered, and when I try to retrieve my user name I never get any email.

Tried about 5 times already from different browsers, edge, chrome and firefox. It says an email is sent, but I never get one.

I would email them and tell them, they'll sort it out for you, you've plenty of time to apply anyway don't panic!

On the application form after Special Needs there's Additional Question asking 'Have you been previously interviewed by PAS and worked as a TCO on any contract length from 2014 to date?"
Then under Supplementary Question it asked 'if you answered yes to above, please specify below the Department and dates you worked. You should also now forward a reference covering the most recent period, by post, to PAS at TCO unit, Chapter House, 26/30 Abbey Street Upper, Dublin 1'

Does anyone know if the reference has to be sent in by the closing date or can it be sent on after? I'll have to ask my EO from last year for it tomorrow!

I'd be amazed if it needs to be sent in by the closing date.

No it doesn’t. I enquired for a friend. Plus can be sent in by soft copy as well now.

How long can you be a TCO for? I'm a TCO for a number of years now.

Just spotted it last minute! :o Applied for it on time. Only takes a few seconds to do. Hope the Assessments aren't as hard as the EO ones. Practice makes perfect!

The last couple of years for the TCO campaign there hasn't been any assessments like the CO & EO campaigns. It's more personality profiling that aptitude testing.

Unless they've changed it for this year but I haven't seen anything on the booklet to suggest that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

I thought you had to do assessments last few years for TCO i've lost track as i've done so many of them for CO and EO campaigns. Ya I recall a personality assessment alright for TCO but thought there was tests as well the last few years. I apply to TCO most years but the odd year I haven't.

I didn't read the booklet yet but the info is probably in all of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

Only asked for one location this year am I right I thinking that when applying? Often have a second choice? Didn't download recent booklet has anyone a copy? Got TCO 2016 copy online likely to be similar but different. What's the pay scale have they for this year?

Haha I know the feeling I'm weary from those timed assessments!! The HSE should be releasing theirs soon, yippee :D

As far as I remember from last years TCO it was just situational questions, you can't really study for them, no right or wrong answers just how you react to a certain situation.

Just applied for Dublin. Are these jobs hard to get for a Library and Information studies graduate without much paid office experience?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

I think there is separate application for the library and information graduate programme paid experience with the national library of Ireland I think. I recall applying to it or was it the National Gallery/Museum of Ireland. UL I think had a similar job and only needed the leaving cert for it but can be hard to get into I didn't get an interview for either positions.

I wouldn't be sure if that type of job be part of the TCO campaign?

What happens now after we have applied when do we get the links or be contacted for the online assessments

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

Takes a few weeks. Two-three weeks after application is usually the time line. Might have been mentioned in the booklet but I didn't get a chance to download it and read it.
