    They will snap regardless.

    I was driving 6 inch posts into rock years ago with a malone .

    We learned to make a small hole with a crowbar before putting them in to give the point somewhere to go .

    Before we did this we were snapping 6 inch posts.

    They never went violently.

    If you had a cap to hold the post you would struggle to drive the post straight into the ground . It would always be slightly off
