    Couldn't find a thread.

Looks like 3 upsets on the cards tonight. The Mayo Monaghan game is a good one. Not a lot of quality but fierce competitive. Mayo getting away with a lot of off the ball stuff. Starting all the wee rows but the ref booking both players.

Says he not a lot of quality and then O'Connor puts over a beauty of a point.

    Soft second yellow.

Down and Laois football has gone to the dogs. Both getting fairly bad clippings at home.

Enjoyed that game. Monaghan certainly deserved it. Special mention for the ref who was an absolute joke. Fell for all the nonsense every single time. I think every free Mayo got in the second half was brought forward.

And another special mention for that asshole in the crowd who jumped off his seat to get involved in a malee. Looked for a second like he was going to throw a slap but stopped himself. Just stay in your seat you moron.

Watched Laois/Louth tonight, Louth ran them ragged even before Begley red card. Lots of positives in their movement and point scoring, seemed to have learnt a bit from last weekend when they didn't do themselves justice.

Not many points got in the pools thread I'd imagine.

Was flicking between Mayo and down games. Fermanagh looked impressive. That Corrigan lad would get into most teams in the country.

The last one was the best. The Monaghan player genuinely just walked towards his position as COC settled himself. As soon as O'Connor saw him he shaped to kick and feigned indigence. It was comical the ref fell for it.

And just before that the Monaghan lad was running away from the ball and had the ball kicked against his back. Brought forward. Crazy stuff.

You clearly weren't at the game. if you were you would be very surprised that Monaghan managed to keep 15 players on for so long. Every single free they stood in front of the ball to slow it down or kicked it away. Parsons was taken out off the ball each time he made a run forward. It was as cynical an attempt as you would see to slow a game. There should of been several black cards shown, if they are still given in the league. The referee didn't even see half the scraps, i'd doubt you seen them from the couch.

The fact that you are actually blaming Mayo shows just what absolute garbage you are posting, and your usual anti Mayo bias. It really makes any post you write completely untrustworthy.

Saying that Monaghan clearly deserved to win the game. They had the much better forward line,.

Haha **** me it's a league game man. Chill out. So what if I wasn't at it, why would I be? It was on TV.

Yeah Parsons was taken out, and that post was made before he was BTW. As for the messing at the frees, you can read the posts above clearly saying most of that was O'Connor buying the ball getting brought in.

I've no graw for Monaghan so it's not like I'm giving anything other than my neutral view on it.

Lol and how the ****ing hell have I an anti Mayo bias? I'm from Tyrone and have no anti Mayo opinion. After Tyrone were beat by you last year I was cheering you on for the rest of the championship.

    Such a load of tripe.

Oops apologies, Mistook you for another regular here :o. Its a game that clearly showed that a single referee is not enough. There was someone on the ground for most of the game, very little penalty given.

I can understand Cillians frustration, Monaghan literally stood a foot in front of him until they were ready each time. Clarke was probably the man of the match, which says alot. Mayo couldn't even come near to Monaghans aggression and work.

Its going to be a difficult league to stay in. Unfortunately I'd say Mayo have the worst forward line in the division.

Fairly fiesty game tonight.None of the new guys on the Mayo team stood out , I though Dougan looked decent enough for Monaghan.

Conor McManus is simply class the best corner forward in the country right now and if he was on a better team he'd be even better as he;s have less attention on him. That last score was something else and he regularly kicks scores of that quality.

Great crowd from Mayo as usual. They really are the best supported team in the country, Monaghan, looked to be a decent few there from Monaghan also.Personally I think Saturday is a much better time to have a match, gives people a day to recover if they have to travel, the crowds at Saturday league matches always seem to be very good, I wonder would the GAA ever think of Saturday becoming to be the default day for matches instead of Sunday

The mark rule has no impact on anything. It would be a worthwhile rule if you combined it with a requirement that all kickouts had to pass the
45 (which I think should be introduced) but without that it doesn't do anything.

Yeah the mark is pointless like it is now.

If you win clean ball then 99 times in a 100 you retain possession anyway. There's no real advantage to it.

Good 6 point win for Tyrone. Croker up next.

Sligo rescue a draw with a last second penalty.

This Cavan team aren't half bad you know.

Dean Rock having a bad game here from the frees.

Was at the Sligo v Armagh game, was 20 minutes late, the fella at the gate kindly let me in for free, even at that I thought I was overcharged, poor enough game, I thought the second Armagh goal would kill it off, but Sligo showed good spirit to comeback, eerily reminiscent of the 2002 Quarter Final between the two teams.

Haven't a clue what happened for that penalty incident, think it was for holding off the ball or something, Sligo didn't deserve anything from the game so I was pleased with a draw, but they've been frustratingly inconsistent in the League in the last few years, hope they can push for promotion this year.

In the first half McGeeney went on to the pitch to give out to the Ref, someone from the crowd roared "Will ya get off the pitch" Geezer gave him a cold steely glare and replied "See ya at the gate afterwards" he's obviously mellowed with age :D

Wasn't at the game, so can't comment, although a Sligo lad on GAABoard described the penalty decision as "scandalous".

It sounds from the reports that there were some promising signs for us, but ultimately an inability to win can be accounted for by many of our own failings, e.g. dropping shots into the keeper's hands, poor kick-out strategy and sitting back when the game was there to be won.

Six games to go, four of which are at home, so if the team is good enough, then the opportunities to progress will be there.

Unsurprisingly the Dubs are live on TV this weekend too. Honestly, they need to do something for the league like they have with the soccer in England where every county has to be shown a certain amount of time at a minimum and one county can't be on TV every single week. Don't you know that 25 minutes of the hour long League on Sunday highlights show will be dedicated to that game too.

    Eir Sports - Saturday Night
    Mayo V Roscommon
    Down V Meath
    Laois V Tipp

    TG4 Sunday
Live coverage of Donegal v Dublin from Ballybofey and Kerry v Monaghan...

Now I had thought it would be one live game and one deferred, but from that it looks like both games on Sunday will be live.

I have absolutely no doubt they will get the biggest audience, especially when playing away. But similarly if Sky Sports had Man Utd every weekend they would get the biggest audience and to prevent them from doing that the premier league set up rules that they have to show every team a minimum amount of times so they can't just stick on the one big name team every week and screw everyone else.

Tyrone in second now with a game in hand over everyone else bar Cavan. Should we manage a win in that game this weekend we'll go top. No semi finals this year (I thought there was in previous years but could be wrong) so getting into the top 2 and a big final in Croker would be great preparation for the championship.

Still got Cavan, Donegal, Mayo and then Kerry to play so a long way from getting there yet, but beating Cavan would leave us on 7 points. If we can manage to beat Donegal in Omagh the following week then we will be well placed going into the last two rounds. Kerry and Dublin to play the same night will put one of them well back, probably Kerry given it's in Croker. Should Dublin beat Kerry and Monaghan then Tyrone really should make the final.

In Division 3 my other team Sligo look like they could possibly make the final and promotion. Louth are rocking on 4 wins from 4, but if Sligo can win 2 of their last 3 games against Longford, Offaly or Louth then they should be promoted. Armagh are in the running there, but on paper they have a tougher run in with games against both Louth and Tipp in their final 3.

    Sorry, you're right actually.

TBH, any of the three results available in that game would suit Tyrone at this stage. Would probably have a preference for a Kerry win just to knock that record over. Kerry have already lost 2 games and should Tyrone beat Cavan then they would be 4 points behind Tyrone. A Dublin loss would also mean they have dropped 4 points.

Dublin now unbeaten in 33 consecutive games in league and championship. Really is time for them to be split into at least two teams unless we want this sport to wither and die. The unfair advantage they have is disgraceful.

Meh, it's been discussed ad infinitum here and we'll never agree. For me you're just seeing a golden age of Dublin football. They are exceptional but beatable on their day and the next generation will likely not be as good or dominant as this one. It's not too long since they went 16 years without one with pretty much all the same advantages they have now.

If it's going to happen any time between now and an AI semi-final it's this weekend. Should you get to the league final which looks a cert then I don't see anyone beating you in Croker this early in the year. Maybe we could have a rattle at ye, but who knows.

This game is to match their record from the 30's or 40's so you know Kerry will be really up for it, even more than usual.
