A small flock of curlew flew over my house this morning; only knew they were there because of their call. Locally we also have kittiwakes, oystercatchers and fulmar, the occasional gannet in the summer, loads of cormorants and the usual range of gulls, plus goldfinches, goldcrests, blackcaps a-plenty in the garden.

    Birds are wonderful :)

Oh, yeah, remember the winter when there were big flocks of redwings all down the east coast, and the one when the waxwings passed through?

On days like this where there is heavy snow it's more difficult for the small birds to find food.
