Whiten Traumatised Tooth

Just a question about whitening a root canaled tooth

I took a boot to the face playing rugby in my youth chipped a front tooth and had a root canal. Root canal was repeated a few years ago after a slight infection.

Anyway the tooth has gradually discoloured over the years to a point where I'm no very conscious of it.

My dentist who i trust and gone to for years has taken some time off and I recently saw his locum who gave me a number of options and we agreed that internal bleaching would be the plan to go for initially. After 2 weeks waiting for an appointment while they ordered the stuff needed I was told today they couldn't source everything needed but could refer me to another dentist who would definitely be able to do do

This sounds very odd to me. Is it a specialisation or should any dentist be able to do this?

Maybe not a job for a locum. Internal bleaching has some risks associated with it, they are not big risks, but again perhaps not something a locum would want to do.
