I'm not sure if people are aware of SID (Sailing in Dublin), but they're a group of people that own a few boats and dinghies, you pay a fee and do a bit of sailing. I was a member many moons ago, but I haven't really had time. I'm living the other side of the bay now near Howth/Malahide and wondered if their was a similar group? One of the major positives for me with SID was they were very laid back, I'm only at the comp crew standard - and very rusty!

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Probably something a little more irregular as I work shift, although it's possible they might want someone who can do 2 or 3 out of four weeks? I'd just be a bit worried about being only slightly more useful than ballast!

Ballast is always required :) youve a few options tbh isora is one and there are a couple of hyc skippers who only do regattas.

I crewed last year on a boat and we'd a pilot on crew he was about around 50 percent of the time.

I travel a lot with work so often arent around during the week believe me youd get on a boat on howth no bother

Howth Yacht Club encourage people to turn up looking for crew. The boat I crew on in Howth has picked up occasional hands. There is racing every Sunday in the Brass Monkeys League at present, and from May to end August there is the regular Saturday afternoon racing. Crew who turn up on time are always invited back. Fair sailing!
