Greetings, and welcome once again to the beginning of the weekly Late Late Show Thread.

As is the custom around here, I shall now give you some information on the expected Guest List.

A tribute to Finbar Furey who is turning 70. A host of stars will say nice things about Finbar including former Wycombe Wanderers Manager Martin O’Neill, Christy Dignam whose Daughter was a contestant on the Voice of Ireland, and actor Patrick Bergin whose Brother was in Glenroe. Sharon Shannon (whose surname is the same as Ireland's longest River) will perform with Finbar.

In the old days that would have filled up most of the show but this is 2017 baby, and we've got to fit in more of the usual nonsense.

A Mr Donald Trump was apparently made President of America today - No, this is news to me too but we will have Psychologist Dr Peter Collett in to talk about his body language. Roll it there, Collett, eh? eh? We will be treated to the comic stylings of Oliver Callan who hasn't been on this show in the last 4 days. As a great man once said, good impressionist, needs better material.

Transgender teen David Beattie, who is in the midst of transitioning to female – though still identifying as David - and will be on the Late Late to chat about how he was supported by family, friends and community in his transition, what his next step will be and what it’s like looking for love as a transgender person. Be nice.

Harpist Lisa Canny will make another attempt to get onstage, after Tubs ran down the clock last week and bumped her. Booooo. She should refuse to come on. That'll learn 'em.

Pat McDonagh from Supermacs has been making Tasty and Tempting Food for years, while battling Mick Donald's over copyright and passing off. He's on looking to get more money for rural Ireland or something. Supermac's has gone a bit pricely lately. If I'm getting charged Eddie Rockets prices I'd sooner go into Eddie Rockets.

Well that's about it. Still - Oliver Callan! It's not every weekend you get to see him on RTE, is it?

I leave you with What's Snots, which might be the best thing ever broadcast on RTE. Because some people haven't seen it. This wrong must be righted. I might start putting this into every OP I do.

    Happy 70th Birthday Finbar Furey.

I love the Lonesome Boatman, it's such a hauntingly beautiful piece of music.

    Brutal lineup.

    Hate tribute shows.

And the rest of the guests are bad. A guy from Supermacs Ffs....

Norton was sounding promising till I read he has Ed Sheeran on. Still tune in for McConaughey and Christina Ricci.

"When you were sweet sixteen" was a huge song in the early 80s for the Fureys and Davey Arthur- i loved that song.

I remember Finbar discussing the Fureys appearance on Top of the Pops in an interview a few years back. During rehearsals for TOTP he was asked if he could leave his eyes open during the live performance.

Finbar replied 'I can't, the words of the song are written on my eyelids' :pac:

I don't get the animosity for Oliver Callan. I think he's great.

RTE talks about Donald Trump again, only this time we have a body language expert to tell us more about him,

I'm really fed up of this now.

There's no way that Mario could ever come up with a character as good as Kitty Corridor.

    Time to go to Ennis......

    I'm ready.

I can do this with John C and the lovely Aoibhinn......:)

RTE could do themselves a big favour and save money by sacking the duds Tubridy and Darcy.

Give the LLS show gig to Tommy Tiernan,His wit and intelligence alone completely outclass the said incumbents.

imo Tommy would have mass appeal(young and old) and is a natural for a live chat show.

Also there is no way he would give a soft ride to guests when it comes to the more serious topics.

    Good Evening All :)

Donald had almost as much fake tan on today as Hughie Maughan but I thought Melania looked great, loved her suit, it was very Jackie O.

I'm absolutely livid that Pat McDonagh is being given a prime time slot on television to advertise his fast food outlet. This infommerical sh1te needs to stop, it's not entertainment RTE

Trump looked down as he walked down the stairs, careful not to fall.

    Makes sense.

I went - on the advice from this thread - Lady C.....

Pure manure of a sad event of even a remotely tasty burger.

Let him dig his hole and when you go there for the first time be prepared for the mushy bun and ugh insides...gross.

And I did it for the Boardies......:pac:

I took it for the team.....:P

This is a terrible slot. It's easy to make money nowadays.....

I don't like Trump but at least he said the Oath correctly.

Obama said it wrong and he had to do it again later on.
