Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No mention of it on their website, just access to the Beta.

Re Supply Drops - I like them. The majority of unlocks are camos/paint jobs, with the very rare weapon variant. Aside from unlocking a new weapon altogether (which i rarely use as i like to hunt the camos on the guns, and doing the "additional" weapons has no effect on that). Rarely, you get a weapon variant with slightly different stats, but usually there's a downside too. Overall, they don't really add an advantage, and if people are willing to drop buckets of money on frivolous items well more power to them. It can be completely ignored. For me, they add something small for your efforts, and keep me playing when i usually give up due to the fact that i might unlock something cool. They're grand in IW anyway.

Tell me how is there disadvantages with AW weapon variants? Especially the ASM1 Speakeasy and the BAL-27 Obsidian Steed.

I take it you mean IW?

ASM1 Speakeasy: "However, the five shot kill range is reduced to 26 meters. As well, the Speakeasy's minimum damage goes from 18 to 16, making it a seven shot kill at range. The Speakeasy is the best variant in its effective range, but the worst outside of it."

BAL-27 Obsidian Steed: "However, the fire rate for the first four shots is decreased from 666 RPM to 600 RPM. This will let down the Obsidian Steed in close quarters combat, where fast-firing weapons might outperform an Obsidian Steed. As well, the hip-fire accuracy is decreased by 10%, and the recoil per shot is increased by 10%, although this is less noticeable than on the Carbon variant, due to the lower fire rate. The Obsidian Steed is overall very effective at medium and long ranges, but is less effective at close range."

Both taken from callofduty.wikia.com, so for every stat increase with a variant, there is always a disadvantage. Granted, some are minor in comparison to the benefit, but it's there none the less.

This is an article taken from EDGE magazine. I got this from this post of Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/WWII/comments/6f3hfg/edge_307_detail_pace_mp_maps_and_a_bit_of_zombies/?st=j3j5mjmn&sh=274b74e3

    Attention to detail
As we know Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey (and other devs) visited many locations around Europe.
We went out there not just because we wanted to go and scan everything but because we wanted to get a sense of, 'What does it feel like to be in Normandy or Aachen at ten below with snow coming down?' - Schofield
    +
There’s this theory of how the brain works. You’re wired to pattern match; you’re wired to build a model around things that you’re familiar with. The best example is if you were to paint a lake. You’re going to paint it blue, right? That’s generally wrong – most lakes aren’t blue. If you look through a pinhole at the water in a lake you’ll realise it’s maybe blue-green, or grey, or green-grey. - Condrey
They found during their visit in the Hürtgen (frozen) forest that the ground wasn't white but studded with pine needles.
It may seem like a tiny thing, but it’s an example of that pinhole-like view of what it looked like when, in 1944, terribly unprepared, in canvas winter clothes, these soldiers were holding the line. These foxholes are ten feet from the road. They were defending against a ten-mile convoy of German tanks. You’ll never get that from reading a book. - Condrey
They also visited a concentration camp.
Glen Schofield also mentionned they learned that tank commanders would modify their tanks by fortifying the side or the front to suit their preferred tactics. The devs also looked at technical data to find unknown weak points in tank treads.

    Multiplayer details
    Pace
It’s the fast-action experience you’re used to, and gritty and visceral but certainly, the boosts and thrusts and abilities that we introduced in Advanced Warfare and you’ve seen in other games that are around… future technology and exoskeletons are just not appropriate for this game. You can imagine trying to find a balance where it feels strategic and appropriate to the time period, while still maintaining the fun of multiplayer. It’s more grounded, and more strategic, and I think you’ll find it’s not as fast. - Condrey

    Maps
The feeling of being able to identify your lanes and threats is so different when you’re grounded. We spent a lot of time on map design, and there’s a lot of fundamental rules about sightlines and engagements. But it’s transformational when you [no longer] have to worry about an unseen threat from the sky. - Condrey
EDGE also mentionned there are maps on different fronts but Condrey or Schofield couldn't say too much before E3.
Such environmental storytelling will also feature in the multiplayer component, which in addition to revisiting battlefields featured in the singleplayer campaign will also expand to different fronts. A stop on Condrey and Schofield’s research trip informed one such multiplayer map, but with the mode’s finer details being held back for E3 – and a beadyeyed Activision rep sat in the interview room – specifics elude us.

    Zombies
Schofield said their trip in Europe informed every part of the game, even Zombies.
There’s some really authentic stuff in there. There’s back story that’s based on real events.
Condrey added the mode will be "unique to our Dead Space signature"

    IGN posted additional multiplayer gameplay.

It looks fantastic and feels like a WWII setting, but I can tell it's going to annoy me to no end once again. It's an absolute cluster**** of a map with far too much in the background, where players gel in and you struggle to see anyone. It's also a complete maze with no clear pathways to create a strategy. What happened to maps like Hangar or Dome? I stopped playing both COD multiplayers months ago because of this crap. Either these producers are so out of touch of what made COD a great game or else I must be in the minority. I'm disappointed but I expected nothing less.

Give it a chance Seldgehammer's map design for Advanced Warfare was very good, I have faith that they will produce decent maps also if some of these maps don't work I'm sure they will take on board the feedback when the beta rolls out in August!

Does anyone know if you can preorder the pro edition (steel book, season pass etc) in Ireland?. I see it on the GameStop.ie website but when you click on preorder it just directs you to the ordinary version.

I really dislike that they've given people the power to chose their own race and gender in multiplayer - just seems like stupid pandering and will look silly. A black women in a Wehrmacht uniform...

Probably no mention of it yet for retailers, they're using place card holders I'd say. Once it's properly announced, they will have it proper.

Talked to shop assistant working in GameStop. Apparently the pro edition is booked out and won't be re ordering. Pissed off to say the least. Anyone know where else I might be able to get the game in steel book case version?

Beta fast approaching on the 25th just wondering if anyone has pre-ordered in Gamestop? Friend of mine did and there was no mention of a beta code. So if you pre-ordered did you get a code or instructions On how to apply for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,305 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Trailer for the MP Beta dropped, and it looks amazing!!!

Now, i don't believe it Betas, i think they give an unfair advantage to people who take part, so i won't be taking part myself. However, it has me very excited for the release!!

Aparantly the guy playing is nameless pro player who has joined Sledgehammer games that's why he was getting all the streaks! I like the WWII version of the chopper gunner from Blops1 and the flamethrower the sound of the lads burning is brilliant :D

Looks good, can't wait for the release. But that video highlighted something that's happening in CoD for a while...

If he was a pro player, he did what i see every 'pro' player do in the first part of the video; he didn't play the objective, instead running around getting kills. There is no incentive to get people to play the objective, or even a penalty for not playing it. They need to come up with something, sick of seeing people getting 40+ kills but no help with the actual objective!

Anyone pre order from Amazon? Just wondering if you get the beta code can you cancel later on down the road? I want to get digital but PS take your cash straight away!

With the PS Store, you can cancel a pre-order as long as the download hasn't started.

Looks like a mistake on the PSN store as I have bigger patches for Apps on my phone then 12Mbs

The beta is actually 16.286GB download size

You can rank up to level 20 during the beta

I know in last year's release I seem to recall not getting the theme until the game released, I could be wrong though

Hong Kong PSN account is the easiest route to get in, it takes 2 mins to set one up. Once you have it set up, log in to new account on PS4 and download the Beta. You can then play it under your normal Irish PSN account.

Oh the temptation to get it through the Hong Kong method... But no! I disagree with betas, so no!

Oh God no! the beta would have finished by the time you downloaded 16Gb on 4G
Although have to say having played it since Thursday I have really enjoyed it, had my best night tonight on it, one or two op weapons like the incendiary rounds in the double barrel shotgun and there is a bit to much quick scoping but hey they can fix and change that before the release. The maps have grown on me, as it's a slower game there is a bit more camping but that's to be expected.
Looking forward to next weekend they will up the level to 40 and hopefully a new map and game mode.

My problems with the first weekend beta were the following:

    - Sprint out to ADS time was very slow
    - Inconsistent TTK
    - I'm not a fan of the character callouts
    - Gun sounds are very meh especially ones like the PPSh

But other than that, excellent. I love it. Love the maps. Love the streaks though some of them are underpowered. Love the guns despite the gun sounds.

I think all of your points are valid and have been highlighted to the developers some lobbies were fine and others I seemed to get instamelted while all I got was hit markers! I hope they address that although it is only a beta and they constantly tweaked it I felt by Sunday I was getting better games and decent scores.
Also they mentioned that they are will be new soldier outfits this weekend, so that might help identifying enemy's in games.

I rage quit last night that new map is badly designed crap. The constant hitmarkers yet I'm getting insta-killed.
They need better maps and better hit detection.
