Tie of the round, no question about that. This will tell us just where exactly we are. We need to be able to beat Glasgow.

bit odd, holland providing backrow cover, keatlely offering back 3 cover.

Kilcoyne and Kleyn to start, looks like we want a hard carrying pacey physical game.

Is Keatley not 22? Saili looks like he's covering the backs.

Youre correct. I presume Jaco would move so?

Oh that's a nice starting 15 to be sending out, hard pitch will suit Jacko and Killer especially.

Keatley filled in at full-back during some game this year and played quite well from what I remember (can't remember the game tho) but I think we have enough versatility on the field for it not to be too much of a problem if we pick up any injuries.

Interesting selection tho, really looking forward to seeing Kleyn again.

This has the makings for a great game! Interesting that neither team is starting with a natural 7.

To be as reductive as possible: If Murray and Bleyendaal perform Munster should win, if they don't I don't see how they can.

To win the game Munster need to score more points than Glasgow.

Jesus that's a fearsome 2nd row pairing we have. I'd expect Kleyn and Donncha to do a lot of damage if they're asked to carry much.
Kleyn definitely will be designated as a big carrier for us I think.

Two really good sides named here and with the Lions tour on the horizon close enough to start coming into players thoughts, (note I'm not suggesting they'll be focussing on it just yet, only that it is close enough that they'll at least have it cross their minds), it should be very tasty. Realistically, Scotlands only hopes of having a Lion come from this Glasgow side (outside of Richie Gray)
Anyway, I believe we can win this but, given that we can still qualify top of the group if we lose with a bonus point and deny them a winning one, even if they beat Leicester next week, I think Glasgow need it more and, at home, that might swing it for them. If this was knockout, I'd back us every time. #SUAF

I'd like to think Munster will have a knockout mentality. The reward is a likely semi-final spit as I'd back the current Munster side to beat anybody in Thomond Park.

Winning this game is likely the difference between being at home to Wasps/Toulouse or away to Wasps. Pretty important to win regardless of whether Munster will top the group anyway

And a semi-final spot where we could be drawn to play in Thomond Park too, I believe. I remember seeing stats a few months back (possibly from Gerry?) about how unlucky we've been with away semi-final draws in the past, getting drawn away quite often. I'm getting ahead of myself now, mind...

To get a home QF would be huge for our organisation and fanbase in so many ways. I think the players are aware of the significance of a win tomorrow would be.

IF we got a home semi, we wouldn't be allowed play it in Thomond. It would be the Aviva.

No, unfortunately not. The random draw is gone.

If Munster are the third or fourth best pool winner, they will get a home quarter final but cannot get a home semi. They can only get a home semi by being the 1st or 2nd pool winner (or getting an away QF and winning it...), but I would imagine Saracens and Clermont have the top two sewn up.

But like I said, given that we are currently 3 points ahead, if we get a losing bonus point and prevent them from getting a try bonus point then we'd be level on points and ahead on points difference or head to head and therefore still top of the group with Racing at home. Therefore, we have less at stake here than Glasgow, specifically when you consider if they lose and Leicester win then they will be a max of 2 points ahead of Leicester if not possibly level on points with them going into the last game.
All that being said, I don't expect us to go into the game with the wrong attitude and, like I said, I believe we can win and will be as disappointed as the next person if we don't.

Actually this rings a bell now you mention it, some rules in place to try even out the home and away sides between the QF and SF?

Yes, but even under old rules Munster's semi final couldn't be in Thomond Park

Looking forward to this, going to be tough but I think Munster will come away with 4. Game of the weekend for me, hope it delivers!

    Remarkably quiet here!
    Everyone must be in Glasgow.

Tough game ahead. As others have said a real test for us today. I'm hoping Kleyn imposes himself from the start, and TB is on the money. This won't be won in the first 20 but it could be lost.

I hope Glasgow aren't inspired by leinsters start to last nights game!
We need to front up and keep things tight. A low scoring affair might suit us today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Really looking forward to this. Will be real sign of where we are as a side. Glasgow are in good form and have a very good side out.
Think we should have the advantage in the forwards so hopefully we can bully them up front.
Big test of our defense as well which has been excellent all year. Glasgow have plenty of threats in their backline.

Full faith in our team to produce a big performance and come away with a narrow victory.

Think everyone was just waiting to see the out come of the Wasps match first. Gonna be a tough game but Munster hopefully can grind out the win and guarantee a home quarter final.

Nice low scoring frist half would do nicely. Don't give Glasgow any type of momentum.

C'mon Munster, important to keep the Scots out of the Quarter finals or else they might be able to afford to beat us a little more often.
