I have no problem with freedom of speech, right to publish whatever you want. I do have a problem with a media outlet using another journalist's content without their permission and passing it off as original.

Yep, CCC Nuacht have launched a lawsuit against them for plagiarism.

Well, I shouldn't say "them"...the site is registered as a sole trader with Leo Sherlock as its owner.

Destroying the evidence, more like. Someone should tell Leo that's not how the internet works.

My favourite thing about The Liberal was when the marriage equality referendum passed, they didn't even report it. Months of awful opinion pieces on the subject (some claiming to have been written by 'young mothers' and 'concerned primary school teachers', but all written in the barely-literate style of Leo Sherlock himself), and then... nothing whatsoever.

I never quite get this accusation, I've never seen it. Any Liberal.ie article I regrettably ever read was so badly composed and full of grammatical and spelling errors that it could quite literally have come from nowhere else. I'm all for an independent right leaning media in this country to counter the mainstream but the Liberal is semi literate at best.

There's a fair few examples here. Plenty of journalists that have faced the issue.

Was this not part of the fall out of them publishing an entirely facbricated and racist article about an an alleged riot between 2 large groups of men with African origins?
A few journalists looked into and spoke to Guards in the area.
No incidents reported. No witnesses. No damage.
Its a Daily Mail wanna be. Good riddance, hope the owner is sued from here until the end of time.

It's a Breitbart wanna be. The guy sounds like a Steve Bannon wanna be.

Incidentally Breitbart ran a similar story about Germany over the holidays. Got some facts, blew them up and created a whole new story with a racist twist.

The Independent originally reported about the "riot", the liberal then picked it up and added the racial twist to it, because that's their agenda.

I've checked out their twitter feed. Sherlock has a reply up there

    http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1spgsj8

In it he completely avoided mentioning the story except to say he's not racist and that anyone who said he's racist will be hearing from his solicitor. Also apparently anyone who complained about the story hates free speech.

What annoys me most about the site is the unbelievably disingenuous name of it. In fact it's not even disingenuous, it's a downright lie. It's pretty shoddy that they felt they had to try to attract readers by naming the site as they did, rather than the more truthful rightwingconservativeprolifemouthpieceoftheionainstitute.ie. Not as catchy I'll admit, but at least no-one could be in any doubt as to what their agenda really is.

It's kind of pathetic when you think about it. Having to pretend to be something they're not to try and get readers.

Whatever about the many fake news stories including the infamous imaginary riot on St.Stephen’s Day, or the suspect competitions where you can’t find out who the winner is, or the thousands of facebook likes that certainly weren’t bought, or the outrage pieces that certainly weren’t written by Leo himself against gay people, foreigners, women and abortion, or the entire family of Sherlock’s with their bizarre behaviour… It’s the plagiarism that has caught up with little Leo.
Most ‘news sites’ (I use that term loosely) are not so thick as to even chance it, those few who do and are caught always hold their hands up. This character however has convinced himself that it’s all part of a global conspiracy against him and his edgy, tell-it-like-it-is, no nonsense attitude. No doubt led by the Jews, Angela Merkel, Peter Sutherland, Dublin 4 liberal media elites and the lizard people.
It’s a cluster****, but not surprising when you see the family that he has come from.

Except that there was, it was even reported on by the Indo and Herald... Not that their bastions of integrity or anything, I'm also not entirely sure why the story was racist for mentioning the majority of youths were black.

I noticed recently that I'm blocked by Leo Sherlock, despite never having any kind of interaction with him before. The only explanation I can think of is that maybe I once 'liked' a tweet that called him out on the plagiarism. Seems kind of petty. But not as petty as blocking the fucker back, which is exactly what I pointlessly did.

Looking who they follow there's another female Sherlock (I won't post a link in case it's just a coincidence)

    however her bio says
Love the Lord & Israel. Abortion stops a heart beat! :( Trump and Pence Supporter. Marriage is between a man and woman, nothing else. Against water fluoridation

So that's an absolute nutjob then.

It has happened though - how much, I don't know, but there is definitely one case of it. A writer in the Cork Echo. They blocked her when she took them to task on it then.
