Last Year was a really difficult year for me in many ways. However in the Spring I started doing something for me, I took up a fitness class once a week. I really enjoyed it and felt I needed to do something more. I have always gazed longingly at people running on the roads as I was driving by, and knew this is what I wanted.

I had, a few years back tried running using a c25k app but I wasn't successful. I knew if I was to do it and get it to work it would have to be with a group. And that is just what I did in the Autumn. After 4 weeks of training I had run my first 5k! To say I was proud would be an understatement! My first ever medal!

The group I now run with are training for a 10 mile in March. During the c25k I had been thinking I'd run the 5k in this race. Then I went to thinking I'd run the 10k! This week I ran 7k, it was tough going but I did it and the 10 mile race, as long as I can get to all the training meets, feels doable.

I'm not interested in the times it takes, that's not why I'm doing this, maybe as my running career progresses I might, but right now I'm happy to pull on my running clothes and be one of those people who I had been so envious of a couple of months ago.
