Seen some sites reporting that the Eubank PPV has been cancelled?

Could be a load of nonsense but I would love if this was true.

Was it ever really going to go ahead? Tickets hadn't even gone on sale yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,928 ✭✭✭Morrison J

No tickets, no press conference, no mention of PPV prices. 3 weeks out from the fight? Can't see any way it goes ahead.

Guessing the massive public backlash has ITV dropping out of the fight.

I never thought it would make PPV, I thought ITV would of just put it on ITV 1 or something.

If the rumour is true, Eddie and Frank must be smirking somewhere. Will Chris senior try to sheepishly make overtures to either of them. It's time the son thinks about what is best for his career.

Going ahead by the looks of it.

Senior on the poster. ****ing typical.

That pic makes it look like Senior is the underdog fighting Junior :pac:

Anyone else seeing this doing reasonable well in the box office? I guess it all depends on how you measure reasonably well.Maybe they're just testing the market to see how it fairs out.

I know you'd want your head examined to buy it but there seems to be a market there for people that buy ****e fights. Throw in a bit of pantomime from the father and some will be intrigued.

What are you buying? Whats the undercard & how much is it? Its being done like the amateur **** show it is. Sky hype their PPV's to the high heavens months in advance as it requires a decent bit of work to get PPV numbers.

I also see that Eubank Jr. has come out saying he is training himself going forward. He really could **** away a really promising career.

No mention of ITV on the poster though? I still don't think this will go ahead. If it does, surely to jaysus it can't be a PPV!?

Looks like he's getting ideal prep in for his 'world' title fight tbf.

He badly needs a technical trainer. I would have liked to have known why he fell out with Booth as I would have thought he'd be perfect for Eubank Jr. His athleticism will only get him so far.

I think it was something to do with Senior interfering with what Booth was trying to do. The ol' lad has some hold and control over his son!

Who's training Haye? I know Mcguigan is out with Frampton but would have thought they'ed have a joint camp.

Training himself in Miami by the looks of things. I'd get the impression Haye isn't killing himself for the Bellew fight. Highlights the pisstake that is PPV these days when Eubank and Haye just need to turn up with little to no training to win and we're expecting to pay 20 quid for the privilege of watching it.

Seems like its only Josh Taylor from the McGuigan stable over in Vegas with Frampton. Was sparring Shawn Porter earlier today.

£12.95 for the PPV. David Price also added to undercard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,928 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Actually not a terrible undercard if it wasn't PPV. Better than what Hearn has on in Hull anyway. Good fight for Price and Ryder v Etches has the potential to be a great domestic scrap.

    David Price v Christian Hammer
    John Ryder v Adam Etches
    Kid Galahad v Oleg Yefimovych

    €12.95/£9.95 PPV charge.

    Anyone buying it then? :pac:

I would like to see the fights and paying for it wouldn't bother me. I just don't want to help fuel seniors ego so I'm not going to buy it.

So this is on Saturday Night, anyone bought/going to buy it?

The 4 main fights ITV have are

Eubank Jr vs Quinlan - IBO World Super Middleweight Title
David Price vs Christian Hammer - International Heavyweight Contest
Kid Galahad vs Joseph Agbeko - IBF World Featherweight Eliminator
Adam Etches vs John Ryder - IBF International Super Middleweight Title

Def won't be getting it myself.

Will be very interesting to see how Eubank Jr. looks at the weigh-in, he always looked in great shape at MW, really don't see any benefits to him at SMW.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Some decent fights to be fair but obviously nowhere near PPV. Would have 100% tuned in if it was on ITV. They have missed a trick here, building up ITV with this card would have been a brilliant starting point but instead they've shot themselves in the foot putting it on PPV. Jokers.

Anyone watch Eubank Sr aka English's interview on IFL TV. He talks so much ****e but I can't help but watch it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭Henno30

This will be a disaster numbers-wise. Eubank Sr will be spinning like a madman to gloss over it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,380 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

It will no doubt be the fault of somebody else if it does fail to do the numbers he envisages.

I'd rather spend the money on that rotten Galahad beer from Aldi than pay to watch Kid Galahad and the rest of that card. Ba-dum-tss.

I think you underestimate the amount of idiots that buy into sh1te fights.

The Sky platform can do incredible things, but I really feel like this one's a stretch. With the Sky hype machine behind it, could have done ok. But on ITV I think it's asking too much.

Im looking forward to it .............

I like Eubank jnr and I like his fighting style.
The undercard is alright , but I haven't seen much promotion for this fight.

The media are set on destroying the event, I cant blame Eubank snr and jnr for abandoning other promoters.

They don't provide fighters with a fair deal and tie them into long term deals which make promoters very wealthy.

I think Eubank jnr is very lucky to have his father guide him and protect him.

Looking forward to this event , despite the majority opinion !

Anybody any idea on how many buys this has yet?

I don't think it will do well .
I know I said that I'm looking forward to it, however I think PPV should be restricted to really really top events only.

Top Rank have tested the limits putting on good (but not great) events over the years.

Everybody's trying to destroy the night for Eubank.

I think i'm going to buy it - I will support the fight and the fighter.

Its only the price of a couple of pints :) boom

    C'mon Chris ! c'mon team Eubank

The super-middleweight division is available for domination

Have they put the price up again.

Was going to buy it now but i thought it was a 10-12 quid. 17 Euro now.

I know its only 4-5 euro more but **** off.

EDIT: Maybe I got it wrong from the start

No you're dead right it was £9.95/€12.95 I think. Don't know why the hell they'd raise the price

Selby is beautiful to watch. Image trying to fight him, he never stops moving. Just a pity about his power, alot more people would be talking about him.

Love watching him as well, I think it's just the weight class he's in, nobody over this side of the world really cares about flyweight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

That was just brilliant to watch there from Selby, pity he couldn't stop him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Good fight for Selby that, got some good rounds in. World Champion by the end of the year.

No Agbeko is a bit shit.

Wasn't the undercard meant to be free on ITV4? No sign of it in the TV Guide.

What's the opinion on the main? Eubank stoppage, by ref :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,518 ✭✭✭tinpib

Is it just me or is Lennox Lewis slowing down a little bit? I know he was always laconic when he spoke, it's not like Muhammad Ali or anything but it's noticeable to me.

The move up in weight and the previous Eubank fights would illustrate that he's an accumulative puncher, so it kinda looks that way.

I kinda said that in jest Pac man :) I'd put the wife on that only the odds arnt good enough :D

How's everyone scoring this? I haven't been scoring it but just felt Ryder is running away with it.

Haven't been scoring it but Ryder is ahead I'd say he's landing the more eye catching shots that right hook and uppercuts on the inside are doing serious damage

What's Richie Woodhall watching? Sheffield bias?

I'm not sure it couldn't have been level though!
All in all an enjoyable scrap the undercard has been pretty decent so far now let's see what the big boys can do!! I hope hammer catches Price off guard for the KO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,907 ✭✭✭✭Kristopherus

That was a brute of a fight. I feel, though that Ryder won it handily enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 138 ✭✭Mr.Ed

Ryder had to win that in reality at least the judges had sense unlike Woodhall!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 138 ✭✭Mr.Ed

Any chance Eubank might do what Mcgregor did vs Diaz and gas himself with the extra weight?? Just when Duke was talking about him eating turkey and eggs for breakfast sounds very familiar to Mcgregor eating steak the week of the Diaz fight! I know Eubank is ripped to within an inch of his life but still!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,928 ✭✭✭Morrison J

I had it 9-3 Ryder. Woodhall's card was amazing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 138 ✭✭Mr.Ed

David Price doing pad work with Dave Caldwell just looked so strange Price is about 2 feet taller!
