Back up motor for a speed boat??

Looking for people's opinions on a back up motor for a speedboat. The boat is a 17ft Bayliner. Are the electric motors a total waste of time for a boat this size? I'm assuming unless it's flat calm they would struggle. If I go down the route of a small out board what's the best way to mount it?

Hi and welcome, a bracket like this should do you, http://marineparts.ie/engine-systems/outboard-accessories/outboard-brackets-and-trollies/goldenship-outboard-bracket-up-to-35kg/ if you are using her at sea I would be looking at 8hp up to 15hp a bit less on the inland waterways,

You might also get away with a fixed mount if you have a flat transom and the room to tilt it up.
