Thanks for all the replies, a question for anyone who has carpets, rugs, how well can they clean these, also re the Xiaomi, where is the best place to purchase to avoid import duties.

In my experience, the 11S is not as good as our old Dyson on carpet but a) I'm not doing the hard work and b) it gets hoovered at least every second day instead of every weekend so it's much clearer overall.

Also it's shocking how much dirt it pulls out day after day!

Had a Xiaomi delivered last week from Ali. Delivered from German Warehouse so no extra charges.

    Fantastic bit of kit.

How long did you wait for them to post it, if you don't me asking?

I ordered one from this seller on 13/02 to be posted from DE and it's still hanging there waiting to be posted. I sent them a message asking when it would be posted - they replied nearly 10 days later telling me they'd update me soon and no other details. The processing time is expiring in 3 days, I won't be extending it even though I am sure they are going to post it on the last processing day!

Ordered 1st Feb, {guaranteed delivery by 22nd or full refund}. They contacted me 10th to check my address, but hadn't shipped/arrived by 22nd so cancelled on 25th. Then within 30 mins had they send me a tracking number. Arrived 5 days later from German Warehouse.

So, I've lodged a dispute over the delivery so hopefully I get a full refund on top. That'd be amazing :D

Hmm, I dont remember what it said on mine when I was buying it in terms of guaranteed delivery by a certain date. Can I find this info for my order now or should have taken a screenshot at the time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,393 ✭✭✭Grassey

Don't see it now, it was there above where the "20 day buyer" icon is now on that link. I took a screen shot at the time of it. Also had a time quoted on my order summary, though that was 21 days after dispatch. The screenshot clearly states delivery within 21 days of ordering.

Did you pay 500 or 600 for it? Seems to be that price from Gearbest.

It was the first gen Xiaomi, I paid around €255, looked at the second gen and figured the mopping function wasn't worth it for me

I have 2 360s6 vaccums, bought them in Gearbest for around 260 euro each.
I love them, both do vacuum and mopping and have the snazzy laser mapping system with a cracking SLAM algorithm to map a route for cleaning.
They also have a moping feature which I fold very helpful.
    There 2 drawbacks:
    1. Replacement parts are more scarse and expensive than those for the roborock
    2. They can't handle dark floors/carpets because they think they are falling :)
Bar that I like the app, they send me some highly entertaining messages looking for help and the suction is very efficient.

Haven't used AliExpress before. Safe enough to order from Czech Republic warehouse? Has the fastest estimated delivery date.

Options are France, Spain or Czech Republic.
    Comes in at about €369.

This is a lot more expensive than the eufy 30c which was on offer a while back, I don't know why I cancelled that order, such a bargain, about half the price of the Xiaomi.

I got mine from the German Ali seller, changed the delivery to the 5-10 day option and had it delivered in 4 days. Great piece of kit, did a great job of cleaning the house over the weekend, simple to setup and it was shocking to see how much dirt it picked up. This morning I just set it off when I was going to work, considering 1 of my kids spilt a bowl of cereal this was a godsend.

The mopping function is "ok", it's just like having a wet cloth put over a sweeping brush in my opinion.

am i correct in saying the eufy is a lot simpler, doesnt clean in a linear fashion, doesnt map rooms etc?

As far as I know, it meanders along its route and is a bit erratic but has great reviews, no mapping I think but a bigger dustbin and was only half the price of the Xiaomi when on offer so was definitely a better buy at that stage, maybe not so much now.

Bought my Xiaomi S50 from here, no customs. https://www.tomtop.com/p-y7920.html

    Someone here recommended the site.

I had a non mapping one, drove me nuts...sometimes wasn’t sure if it got from one room to another and lost the charging station all the time once it went to different rooms

    Never again

Deal of the day on amazon today, might be of interest to some Neato Robotics D5 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01KV1C1D6?pf_rd_p=71cb17e9-f468-4d3f-94d5-a0de44c50a7e&pf_rd_r=PVJTADAC6J0BC7AJWV49

I've a mix of hardwood, laminate, carpet, lino and tiles downstairs with carpet and tiles upstairs, the thought of having to lay a load of tape to seperate each area wasn't for me, the S50 will do the different surfaces but also allows me map out the areas, a godsend really.

It was also great fun using it to get beer the other day, put a beer on top of it and call it to you via the app, great fun really (well after a few beers it was anyway :D)

Mine (11S) definitely matches that description, I can't talk about the others. It drives in a certain direction for a while and then changes direction. If it's close to something, it changes direction to avoid it. It does have an Edge mode which keeps it stuck to the walls, stairs, etc which is great for picking up anything it might miss on a normal random run.

It's definitely hit or miss about whether it finds its way back to the changing station!

on that basis is something like a neato d3 at £235 from warehouse not a much better bet? room mapping virtual no go lines etc etc

https://moderncastle.com/vacuum-cleaner-reviews/neato-botvac-d3-robot-vacuum-review/]This review says that it performs underwhelmingly, is a little taller than others and has a relatively high cost of ownership.
Based on the manufacturer’s recommendation, it will cost around $138 annually to maintain the Neato Botvac D3. This includes six filters and two rolling brushes every year, and one new battery every 18 months.

This is without question the biggest detractor to the Botvac D3, in our opinion. Most other robot vacuums we’ve tested have been between $25-$35 / year to maintain. In addition, I found it more difficult to locate the correct replacement parts online for the D3 model.

86% score and for me having a proper laser mapped vaccum is a better than one that randomly works around, but horses for courses!

I had a Neato, replaced it with a Eufy 30c. Happy with replacement although the shiny white tiles can trigger the drop sensor when the sun shines on them. It might be the contrast between the darker and lighter areas as it goes between sun patches. The Neato would often get stuck as it wanted to take a specific path, the Eufy rarely gets stuck.

Ordered the S50 on the strength of this thread. Landed in AddressPal last night so should be here in a few days. Used a Spanish shipper from AliExpress.
    Thanks for the steer.
