Replacing a Eurocylinder lock

Hi: I'm about to replace a euro-cylinder lock in my mother's front door with one that has a turn knob on the inside (composite door). The turn knob on euro-cylinder that I have turns anti-clockwise (to lock) for a right-hinged door. Her door is left-hinged. So stupid question - are there different cylinders for right/left hinged doors? (My answer maybe not - the cam is both directions??)

Second question - any suggestions on where in Dublin would be a good place to buy a replacement cylinder? Thanks

No. The cylinder is the same either way.

The measurement you'll be looking for is the distance from the threaded hole (that holds it in) to the inner and outer edge. The hole isn't always centred, plus Euro cylinders come in different lengths.

Tip: when you release the fixing screw, you may need to rotate the cylinder with the key in, about 10-15 degrees, to remove the lock

Thanks lads - I have to measure the lock yet. Any suggestion as to where I could pick one up - Dublin city centre/south city/Lucan areas? I know that somebody here points people to Mila in Kilbarrack which is a little off my beaten track.

The key measurement is to have the outside piece as flush as possible with the door handle because if it stick out too far, too easly to snap off with a vice grip

On the snapping off thing, the better ones will have a built in breakable bit on the edge in case someone tries to snap it off.

Second that.
You need an abs lock. Anti- bump, anti- snap and anti- drill if possible.
