    Good afternoon beautiful souls!

In true New Years style I'm going to set some intensions for the year ahead. I usually do one big goal setting exercise once per year and re-visit each month to check progress but I must admit, these last few months have been a bit light on the compliance side! Ergo; here I am!

    Health
    1. Find out WTF is wrong with my RO. Get my period back! :(
    2. Increase consumption of organic produce; 1 vegetarian day per week. DECREASE caffeine consumption.
    3. Complete my 19 week hypertrophy strength programme.

    Finance
    1. STAY ON TRACK! Revisit my budget on a weekly basis.
    2. Just 1 meal out per week, just 2 take away coffees per week.
    3. Setup a pension (vomit) without it impacting my target savings goal.

    Personal
    1. Increase my time spent on hobbies. Reading, surfing, knitting... all of the above. Stop wasting so much time being a lazy stones.
    2. LESS SOCIAL MEDIA TIME......!!
    3. Do it. Get the HUGE tattoo on your bicep. Why not?! :D

What's in store for you folks this year? Do you usually set intensions, if not do you set goals at different times of the year or do you just not believe in goal setting?

    SM Xx

    Health:
    - Get to 16% body fat before the year is out. I have a tailored nutritional plan on the way so that should give me a good start.
    - Improve my flexibility and mobility. Have bought some resistance bands to help with that.

    Financial:
    - I'm gonna win the lotto.

    Personal:
    - Get a tattoo!
    - Pass my coaching licence so I can look for more secure jobs.
    - Reach my twenty books goodreads challenge! I only got to seventeen in 2016 and that has annoyed me.

Ooh, I love these kind of threads - it's so easy to be optimistic at this time of year (ignoring the fact that I forget most of my plans by February).

    Anyway, here goes:

Health - not really a big one, get back into jogging when the weather is nicer.
Plan meals better, cook a proper dinner in the evenings ( note to self: toasted cheese sandwich does not constitute a grown up nutritious dinner).

Finance: I'm starting a Masters in the UK in September. So for the next few months it's save save save.

Unfortunately, I'm currently in a job that's stressing me out, and don't know if I can last another 9 months without cracking up, although the money is good. So it's toss up between my wallet and my mental health.
I start back in a few days, so I'll give it a few weeks and if I still hate it, I will give in my notice and look for a job, any job, to keep me going for the next few months.

Last one is spend more quality time with my good friends and my nephews who all bring me a lot of joy. Easy.

I don't think I did this last year, my main goal was to get a new job which I did. so yay for that. This year.....hmmmm pretty cliche really!

    Health:
-Get back to free weight training (have that already booked in and deposit paid for)
    - Try and lose the 2 stone I have put on in the last 18 months. I'll be happy with any loss really
    - Drink less tea and coffee

    Financial:
Pretty ok financially, just keep saving I guess!

    Personal:
    - Do more things with my evenings-e.g. go to more drink and draw sessions
    - Finish those paintings i've been meaning to do.
    -Visit friend in Canada
-Find a man :pac: thats not really a goal..id just like one :D

I love these kinds of threads too!

    Health/Fitness
Figure out what my body fat percentage is and decrease it. Only eat chocolate at weekends. Complete a half-ironman. Use the very clean bicycle in my dining room.... Compete in a swimming gala abroad. Get stronger.

    Finance
Save, save, save. Trying to get a mortgage. Seems impossible on a single-average income but I'll give it a go. Go out for a nice dinner when I reach my next savings milestone.

    Personal
Get at least first draft of my book done. Get up to a comfortable conversation level of the two languages I'm learning. Run a fundraiser for a cause I care about. Get my house organised. Complete my book reading challenge (21 books in 2017!) Finish a coding course on Udemy. Learn how to cook 5 new meals. Go on a date.

I don't like making 12 months of goals for myself in one go as I am brutal at letting things fizzle out.

So this year I'm making monthly goals as they'll be easier to stick to!

So for January my goals are:

Bring lunch to work every day - I am terrible for popping out and spending €5 or so on a sandwich that isn't even nice and a bar of chocolate etc.

Yoga - once a week without fail, twice when affordable - this is my main goal as I think it will be good for my mental health and well as my physical. I didn't take care of my mental health too well for the past year or so and that's something I need to work on going forward.

No Alcohol - again, looking after my mental health is the reason for this. Alcohol depresses me and once I'm low, I'm low for days.

Walking - walk every Saturday and Sunday morning. It's a great way to start a weekend day.

No you can read absolutely anything. Then you find the book you've read on their database and select Read next to the book. It keeps track of what you've read and if you have friends on it you can see what they've read and what kind of score out of 5 they gave the book.

    Hello wonderful folk!
Since the below post I've been flat tack in my mind, planning my year, thinking about my future and deciding WTF to do with my adult life (please tell me I'm not the only one who wants to be a kid again, have breakfast made for me and for someone else to be responsible for my hair..?!)
Anyway, didn't I stumble upon the below link - hope I don't get into trouble for posting it here. I thought it was a lovely piece which really resonates with me. I'm very guilty of doing the same thing each and every day then wondering why I have not achieved what I wanted to achieve... doing the same thing, yet expecting different results.
Ergo, I have my 10 year goals written and broken down to 5, 3 and 1 year goals. Now for the execution .. which scares me and petrifies me and excites me in equal measures

There's a couple of sportives that are really good fun The Ring of Kerry (July 1st) is 180km cycle that's really well organised and its an absolute buzz when you finish, the ring of Clare has two distances 120km and 160km they are long days in the saddle but are totally worth it :)

I am going to get my sh!t together this year so that when it comes to Christmas 2017, I'll have people to mine and suit myself.
I'll have the spare cash to host a super spread.
I'll look better/be healthier so I won't avoid all cameras.

    Fitness:
After a few weeks away from the gym I need to get back on track. I want to work on building up my fitness more.

    Health
I am going back to slimming world. Last year was not easy but I have a goal to reach by the end of this year. I want to look and feel better and I like buying nice clothes.

    Finance
I am looking for better deals on the household bills. I have made out a budget plan so I have money saved for large bills like health insurance. I want to save money for a holiday and for next xmas. I want to have a long term savings plan in place within the next 6 months.

    Personal
I have a few lose ends to tie up with one person in particular. Doing this will help me move on. At the moment I am unemployed so I will be arranging some volunteer work soon to gain experince in a different area. I plan to have full or part time work in the next few months.
I want to make a few new freinds and get in contact with old freinds also.

I'm all for quarterly updates so I'm going to do mine! Feel free to do so yourself even if it helps motivate you to get back on track! :)
Health: Currently half way through my 12 week PT classes and have lost just over half a stone. \o/ Weight lifting is coming along nicely too, deadlift is up to 52.5kg at the moment.
Part of the diet in the training also cuts out Tea/Coffee so I have drastically cut that down. Used to drink 5/6 a day now i'll be lucky to have 2. Also have to drink on average 4 litres of water a day so its kind of hard to do that and drink tea!
Financial: Still saving, for what? no idea but I'm doing it.
Personal: Didn't go to anymore drink and draw sessions, there is one next Tuesday so I WILL go to that.
Paintings are still where I left them...oops.
    Trip to Canada is booked!!
I said it wasn't a goal but I achieved it all the same :pac: been seeing a guy since February so coincidentally have been doing more things in the evenings which is good!
Hope everyone else's year is going great :)

Galway there and back done - no pushes
Still training for Olympic but it's fallen off list of priorities. I'm okay with that.

    Have cycled 1200km to date.
    Still can't run.

    Health ongoing!

    Started my masters!

    14 books read.

    Finishing the good wife.

    Chopped the hair.

I thought I had posted here at the end of 2016, but it appears I didn't.

Anyway, 2017 is being good to me so far.

I'm cycling much more (any other year my cycling season wouldn't have started yet - so far I've trained for, and cycled most of the way to Galway)
I'm doing better with my health
My weight is slowly going down
I'm allowing myself to just be myself
I'm happier than I have been in years

    Still to do:
    Get back to working
Fund a new bike (and possibly a holiday)
    Really kill the weight loss
I'd love to find someone too

    Done so far:
    - Moved in with the fella
    - Started a new job that will look good on the aul LinkedIn
    - Good start on the saving front, have added significantly in the first few months

    Yet to do:
    - Get me arse in gear fitness-wise. Feck all exercise thus far. Want to start training for a half marathon I'm planning for in October and start weight lifting.
    - Sort the diet out. The giving-up-sugar has been a bit of an almighty joke thus far
    - Start an advanced French course
    - Complete MA application
    - Book Greece holiday
    - Start investing and switch bank accounts to maximise interest rates.

We're nearly into a new month and after a few very lax months spent procrastinating my goals, I'm going to log my intentions for the rest of the year here, to remind me to stay on track.

    Health
Lose 2 stone in a healthy, gradual way.
Practice mindfulness and try to control my anxiety
Sleep more and better - more early nights

    Financial
Have 10k of savings by the end of the year (not a lot to some people but I'm on a low wage)
Pay off my loan and don't get any more loans

    Personal
Live in the moment - forever planning ahead and wishing my days away
    Start driving again
Take more pictures and say YES to more nights out
Take better care of my skin - I'm so lazy that anything more than a quick wipe of a babywipe is too much for me yet my skin is in crap condition and I hate it. Master of my own destruction!

    Health/Fitness

Have been using the bike a lot and have a half ironman booked for the summer.
No swimming gala abroad as it was too expensive.

    Finances

I'm still saving but have been slack. It seems pointless sometimes, trying to save for a mortgage on one average salary.

    Personal

    Organised a kick ass fundraiser.
Terrible at the reading. Book 2 is a 600 pager and a hard read so I'm way behind.
Haven't learned to cook anything new.
    Haven't gone on a date. :(

    Its June, really?! Eeeppp! Lets see how I've done;
    Health
    • I won't place a label on it but I have significantly increased my plant/organic consumption and can't remember the last time I ate meat. Dairy (cheese anyone?!) is a whole other ballgame.
    • Period still not back BUT headway made. All medical avenues explored and all medical illness ruled out (YAY!) Now just to refocus, decrease stress (how easy is THAT to do these days) and listen to the signals my body is giving. I feel in such a better headspace about this recently than I previously did so mental-health tick on that one for sure.
    • 19W strength training went out the window due to the previous point. Still training weighs as per usual
    Finance
    • No to lots here. Life happened. Health happened. I have no regrets. Im about $3k behind my savings goal yet SO MUCH FURTHER than last year. Win!
    Personal
    • TAT GOT! Eeeppp!
    • Hobbies not so much... my life is still filled with work, yoga (which is now also work) and chill-the-fark-out time. Working on this!

This thread makes my heart happy. Look at all of us, crushing them goalz

    Health
    - That nutritional plan didn't work at all. I was always hungry and have been on and off the wagon since. On the wagon at the moment though and feeling positive I can get close to my goal before holidays in August!
    - Been sporadic but my flexibility is better.

    Financial
    - Still waiting to win the lotto.

    Personal
    - Still haven't decided on a tattoo. I know I want one but I'm waiting to find the one.
    - Should know in the next few weeks if I passed the coaching license but I'm not confident that I have.
    - On target to read 20 books!

Well, I didnt post either end of 2016, but maybe can post some mid-way goals :)

    - I've been living at home for a good few years now. Am lucky my parents are very relaxed. And the home house is big and Ive my own private area. I hadnt a clue what I wanted to do. Even thought of moving country. There was always something in my gut to "hold on". Anyways, a big opportunity came up in February to build my own home! So, here I am now, female, of a certain vintage, single, trying to build my own home! The planning permission went in last week, so God's speed to it! Yes, I thought (because that's what were programmed to think) I'd be doing this with a significant other, but here I am doing it on my own!!! And its so liberating! Beyond proud of myself.

    - As a result of housey stuff (the reality is it does get stressful sometimes) is that I joined training classes and I use them to get rid of stress (boxing and slam ball are flippin amazing!). So intend to continue with that and loose a few pounds/tone up to boot.

    - Ive been asked to participate in a clay pigeon shooting competition. Lols! I never knew I had this talent. I went a few weeks ago with some friends, and the guy who owns the place asked me! I'm quite shy by nature, so I hope I get the guts to do it.

    - I've been on some of the most wonderful holidays over the last few years, but housey stuff is priority right now. I do hope to go abroad for at least a week come oct/nov.

    - Wanted to go to more gigs. Been to GnR so far. And Phil Collins in few weeks. Would love to go to a festival for a few days tho.

    - Spread the vibe more that age is just a number. And that you can do things on your own (without a fella-most women still dont believe this. And without being judged....if someone judges you, its a reflection on them and how they see themselves). And be happy.

    Ooh love this thread! :D
Joining for the half year goals also!

    Fitness
Improve time for both 5k and 10k. Couldn't run any distance at the start of the year so am really happy I achieved 10k. Time could be improved significantly. Run 10k race before year end.
    Start cycling more.

    Health
Eat waaaay better. Less sugar, more spinach. Yuck spinach! :(
    Lose two stone

    Finance
    Save like a mad yoke!
Set up proper savings account rather than saving whatever is left over at the end of the month.

    Personal
Pass final two exams of my course.
Meet friends for things that don't solely involve alcohol.
Stop spending so much time on social media
    Be happy!

    Fitness goals:
Planning 1 big personal challenge a month. So far I have confirmed:
    - Complete an Olympic Triathlon (June)

If anyone has any ideas for some challenges I could do, let me know :) they don't have to be big events.

    Overall:
    - Cycle more than 3,000km (did 3,000km last year, I want to improve)
    - Comfortably run 10km

    Health
    - Get weightloss back on track. I finished 2016 the same weight as I started it, so that was an achievement in itself.
    - Get the cyst taken off my back
    - Follow up on test results from last year
    - Eat better

    Finance/Work
    - Continue to save

    Personal
    - Allow myself be happy
    - Read more (I see the Goodreads challenge, does this have to be a specific type of book? I read lots anyway...)
    - Watch more/better TV
    - Shop less (food, clothes)
    - Get a tattoo

Just checked my strava and I've cycled 2,200km this year. If I'm aiming for 3,000 I better get on me bike. Literally...

    So a little check in.

I got knocked off my bike/was in a collision on the 2nd June. Just some minor bumps and bruises but I was out of action for about 6 weeks because I was concussed. So no running done really. However if I have a goal to aim for I'll do it so I'm going to sign up for the run in the dark in November, and start the couch to 5k this week with the aim to run 5k by early September.

Weightloss hasn't happened but I'll persevere.

The main thing though is that I'm happier than I can ever remember being, and if that's the only thing to come out of 2017, it's been a resounding success!

    Now, where's my bike.
