Working at the election this Friday so hoping there's no recounts or any holdups and I can get away in time. Fridays just aren't the same during the pre-season.

What happened to the Sunday afternoon game idea? Was it a non-runner?

Well that was a bit of a disaster! Lights out after 25mins. Match rescheduled for Tuesday 21st.

Still a runner. If you check the fixtures list you can see we switch to Sunday afternoons in July. http://www.derrycityfc.net/page/2017-fixtures-results.html

Who knows if they'll stick to that plan though...

    Great night tonight in buncrana.

Stephen Kenny, your boys took a hell of a beating.

I'll get to my first match on Saturday. Bought my ticket this evening. I was told that the kids (eight and ten) are free but I'd assume I'd need to be in early for them to get a decent view?

I was following the match on the radio and then online...sounded like Derry were all over Bray. Bit of a disaster to get beaten 3:2 with Bray scoring with the last kick of the game :(

Its a funny old game as someone once said.

Sometimes you lose games you should win and vice versa.

But there are a lot of positives to take out of this young Derry team.

Good to see another big crowd at Maginn. I think Derry City has gained quite a few Donegal/Inishowen based supporters this season.....will be interesting to see who they cheer for when Derry play Harps soon!

I tried to get a ticket for the Finn Harps match this evening...sold out! :(

A shockingly poor performance by Derry v Harps. Worst I have seen them play under this current manager.

But fair play to Harps, they did what they had to do to win. Some decent players, and definitely a more complete team than they have had in recent years.

I was sure they'd come away with a victory from Pats :( They did well to draw even twice. It sounded like a great game (I was listening on Foyle).

So at the mid season break, 3rd position.

Very encouraging considering what the club and the players have had to go through this season.

    Onwards and upwards.

Plenty of effort but they were a different class to us.

They'll score 4 or 5 next week too.

Enjoyable :D 3-0 to City. The ref was a bit too handy with the yellow card a couple of times but great result.

2-0 against Shamrock Rovers! Great stuff. I've just watched the two goals on Twitter - class long range shot from McNamee!

So Derry City about to have their last game at home in Donegal.

It was a strange season. There was much excitement at the start and the place was packed, with some great displays, but it all seemed to fall away as the season went on. Maybe to be expected what with the tragedy we suffered.

But it will be great to get back to our home in the Brandywell, although I am not looking forward to watching games on astroturf. I'm old-fashioned like that. Plus its a longer trip to the Brandywell than to Maginn Park for me, but I can live with that.

Maginn is closer for me also.  They were debating in council this evening about renaming the stadium after Ryan McBride.  I'd prefer if they kept the stadium as the Brandywell and named a stand after him instead...

    Totally agree.
To rename the stadium would be too much imho.
The new stand would be perfect, and maybe rename the old one after Mark Farren.

New kits, home and away, both look the part. Good to see Adidas back.

Its looking like the upgrade to the Brandywell will not be completed in time for the 1st home game of the season v Sligo, and we will likely have to play that game away from home. But nothing official announced yet.

So first home game may be v Dundalk.

Good to have the season back up and running.

DCFC away to Waterford in the opener.

Currently at 1-1 at half time.

Can't wait for the 1st game at the refurb Brandywell v Dundalk on 2nd March. Should be a great night.

And another defeat and disappointing performance.

Away to Bohs on Tuesday night, then home to Dundalk then away to Rovers.....might be a rough start to the season unless Shiels can get the lads playing.

Big win away to Bohs. Was looking forward to Friday night and 1st game in revamped Brandywell, only for the eastern beast to scupper it all.

    Shocking. Not good enough.

Hearing some rumblings of bad stuff behind the scenes, cliques forming, players not trying, drinking culture etc.

If any of this is true, Shiels needs to nip it in the bud asap, otherwise we will be in a relegation fight for the rest of the season. I'd fear to think what Dundalk or Cork would do to us at present.
