It wasn't me that said that, it was callaway, but I was just perplexed by how you didn't understand what he said.

Anyway yet again WAR CONOR, people can say whatever they want but Conor is the best Irish sports person this year and I am not in particularly a Conor fan boy.

There is a UFC event on every week, he doesn't fly around the place attending random events.

Little 2 cents for any of those who think MMA is barbaric/violent etc.....

Just remember you saw the captain of Connacht interviewed on live TV on the Sports Awards with his face black and blue after a game today.

Point = Every athlete in a full contact sport (from boxing, MMA, rugby, GAA, American Football) batters their own body and their opponents body during the course of a game/match. Whether it's a left hook from Carl Frampton, a hook-kick from McGregor, a huge hit from Peter O' Mahony.......

They are all various degrees of nuts to do the sports they do

If we accept one as sport, let's accept them all.

Now, with that out of the way, if Conor McGregor doesn't win this I want a recount and will be setting up an Audit the Vote campaign :pac:

Sorry,clicked on the wrong quote.Unfortunately McGregor will probably win,can't stand him or the immorally financed "sport" he competes in.That is not begrudgey,I just think the whole UFC thing is awful.

I'll drop a bit of knowledge from the MMA Forum and it goes a little like this:

"The Double Champ does whatever the F**K he wants".

I.e. Nobody is going to force him to attend any UFC event he's not part of

I think there is a huge hypocrisy in sport. McGregor punches Jose Aldo in the head and he's a thug... Katie Taylor punches her opponent in the head and she's a national treasure...

And that's just a general point Riverman, I'm not having a go at you.

MMA is a seriously skilled sport and takes some serious dedication. Conor has put Ireland on the map, there is nothing immoral about it.

Both have a net worth of $500 million+ according to Forbes.

Their skills? Being able to put balls of various sizes into holes/nets.

I agree wit you about the hypocricy,I am not a fan of boxing either and I am also losing interest in Rugby due to the physicality that now exists in the game.

Carl Frampton definitely achieved the most out of those nominated. Be very surprised if he won it though.

McGregor talks about wanting to tear opponents heads off.I don't think that thinking exists in the world of McIlroy and Ronaldo.

Personally think Paul O'Donovan should win it, Olympic Silver and World Junior Gold is an incredible year. I wouldn't give it to McGregor because he did loose a fight this year and quite badly, yes he avenged the defeat but in a very close fight which he could easily have lost again. O'Donovan, McGregor and Frampton the top 3 for me.

It's questionable how Irish Frampton really it. He was moaning about not being considered for the BBC sports personality, claiming anti Norn Iron bias

Well Frampton is giving Cruz a rematch straight after and will probably fight the IBF champion Selby straight after in the summer should he win, You may not think much of boxing but Frampton achieved an awful lot this year, he's a contender for world boxer of the year he's had a great 2016.

Frampton is a shoe in to win Fighter of the Year and he'll prob not win the RTE award. Fighter of the Year has been won by 5 Europeans since it started in 1928.

It really is bad how little air time Frampton gets from mainstream Irish media.

Yeah, I dont like Frampton, but in fairness to him he is giving him a rematch... I wonder was it written in to the original contract though, a rematch clause... Unlike Billy Joe Saunders who said he would give Andy Lee a rematch and then didn't .. And he's lucky he didn't fight him two weeks ago.

He's not a shoe in Andre Ward and Vasyl Lomachenko could pip him to it but he's certainly a strong contender, he doesn't get as much press because 1 he's a Nordie and 2 because he's never fought down South and is very Belfast orientated understandable but if he brought a big fight to the 3 Arena it would get more coverage imo.
