Not surprised after his poor performance yesterday. I listened again at work today and he completely missed 3 notes...

Just looked at the Outright odds and WOW, what a shift! 2/3 of the countries are in the over 100/1 range now. Surprised to see Azerbaijan at 150, I quite enjoyed her yesterday.

Tempted to put something on Belgium.

Aussie lad did miss a few major notes, but it doesn't deserve to be overtaken (as of now) by the UK entry which is now jumped a spot into 5th fav. Fifth! - from 10 + the 18 as yet to do their thing live. Shut the door.

Only ever consider e/w or top 5/10 markets. Too unpredictable to call the outright winner. Azerbijig at 150/1 is a bit cruel.

Perhaps Belgium is saving itself with a sort of ploy act. Maybe she'll be at the cartwheels and fire juggling, come the big showdown. The time to back them has long gone from 80/1 into 20.

Think open rehearsals were/are underway for SF2 today, expect more euro-pop cheese.

A Eurovision blogger ranked him 14th in his semi on twitter based on his Jury performance

I'm pretty sure the betting market and bloggers have at least some of the qualifiers wrong in this semi. They have only one ballad qualifying (Bulgaria), or two if you include Denmark, but that sounds more like a midtempo song.....usually we see two or three ballads qualify from every semi each year (three went through last night). I thought Semi 1 looked more open and shut but I sense that Semi 2 still has several borderline songs still in the mix.

Have Belgium ew at 66s but Tuesday didn't fill me with confidence....Looking at the betting tonight, Sweden at 20s looks good...Italy n Portugal (nearly joint favs now)dont have the friendly neighbourly pulling power like in Scandanavia or the Balkan countries..

Denmark at 80s n the hosts Ukraine at 200s, dark horses...top 3 right enough will be hard

Will it be a travesty and an injustice if we don't qualify? No!

Will Marty lose his sh?t and be full of fake indignation when it happens? Yes

Won't see it tonight have to work but it would be nice to see him qualify, he must be very young though he only looks around 17.

We seem determined every year to send one person singing a fairly boring song and wonder then how it gets nowhere.

There seemed to be quite a lot of male singers this year, I wonder is it because countries copped on to the fact that girls might be more inclined to txt their vote than young fellas.

    I liked the Albanian song.

Watching along tonight. Wishing our man the best of luck be honestly I feel our chances are slim to none. It's a very weak entry all round.
My favorite song so far is Azerbaijan.

Agree with above comments, Albania, Czech not making it is a shame. Let's put it down to post-truth-vote-hacking, just like everything else.

Azerbijiggy has great recall. Also features rich layering, a mult-tonal soft cowbell, clap and statium-esq reverb kit. It's a Euro-pop multi-flavoured soup mix of roxette, robyn even elements of kraftwork synth action. Celtic-ish backing vox too. There is even a red-neck type motor in the video: an old Ford, Mustang, Datsun or something from the Dukes of Hazard.

All the ingredients to get a euro-wide vote, with the exception of the Southern/Latino countries whom will be backing Ita & Port.

Yes, agree! Song is very modern and the staging is so unique + made for TV.

I noticed that too. Getting good vibes from Malta and placed a small bet on her at 5/1.

    He is 20 apparently.

The only recent song we sent that fitted that was playing with numbers I think? Which I really liked tbh :( definitely should have made final for me she was ridiculously young. Bar that we haven't sent a decent song in so long so can't expect to do well.

Compared to yesterday, this semi-final only has 5 songs I want to see qualify. These are Bulgaria, Belarus, Romania, Estonia and Netherlands.

I couldn't care who else qualifies to be honest, it is a pity Albania, Georgia, Latvia, Finland and Czech Republic weren't in this semi. :p

Nobody seems to like the song, either here or abroad.

I presume qualification chances are slim to none.

Well I certainly haven't entertained the prospect of us qualifying even once. We don't deserve to, even in this low quality semi final.

Sure the singer can sing, but he's been handed a slow 4-track waltz with little life to it. They are so slim in fact you could quintuple any investment for Ire to actually qualify as one of the 10 from 18 in SF2 (that's 500% ROI, that won't happen).

Meanwhile Bulgaria which is a similar-ish style with plenty more atmosphere and dynamics, has been shortening all day into single digits.

The polar opposite to Ire/Bulg/Malta type ballads, is Frances jolly (but forgettable) number, FYR have uptempo pop tunage promoting the use of VR goggles.

A peculiarity is that the Croatians are shortening to within an evens chance of qualifying.

To explain their endeavours is to compare it to the music equivalence (translation) of the scenario of three tins of different coloured paints falling from the back of a lorry at high speed. The mess created is this composition. Even Frank Zappa wouldn't touch it.

The song is a mess but watch out for a special effect during the performance that makes it seem like two people are singing instead of one. That cheesy gimmick may get them some televotes.

Don't mind our song but I just saw the rehearsal and it's so boring! He literally just stands there in a penneys shirt under a crap looking balloon. At least put some effort in!

Semi Final 2 is a lot harder to predict, but I'll give it a go.

    Qualifying:
    Romania
    Bulgaria
    Belarus
    Austria
    Estonia
    Netherlands
    Hungary
    Norway
    Israel
    Macedonia

    Out:
    Serbia
    Malta
    Denmark
    Ireland
    San Marino
    Croatia
    Switzerland
    Lithuania

Much harder to guess this semi though, there's a lot of entries that could go either way.

It's a real pity because Brendan has a really unique and talented voice but the song we've given him is absolutely awful, completely and utterly forgettable.

There are only three countries in this semi that I'd be confident will qualify: Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.
Could be any seven of the rest after that.
