ZOMG U GUYz, 2016 is going around murdering people....Davis Bowie, Gene Wilder, Alan rickman, Fidel Castro, John Glenn...and now Greg Lake...who the fück is Greg Lake.

We should like totally put 2016 on trial for crimes against humanity. It's such a bastard...how can it get away with this?

    2016 killed nearly everyone.

What’s the point of having celebrities anymore if they all get killed by a bad year that is out of control.

    Stop the killing...STOP IT

The threshold for being a celebrity lowers every year.

I mean, Alan Rickman, an acting icon? That's laughable.

who the fück is Greg Lake.

Is it just me or are young people becoming more and more proud of their ignorance?

I was born in 1976 but during the course of my life I somehow managed to at least hear of musicians who had sold millions of records before I was born. Now people have access to a wealth of information but they couldn't be arsed Googling who someone is.

You hear the same thing on quizzes when someone is asked about someone like Elvis or The Beatles "that was before my time" as if it's impossible to have heard music from before you were born.

Then you have those idiotic 'react' videos where some moronic teenager says they have no idea what a cassette is, then breaks it in half trying to take it out of the case.

At this rate in twenty years time the worlds population will be a slobbering mess.

I was born 16 years before you so I reckon we'll be there in another 4 years by my perception.....

Obviously a much higher number of celebrated artists though, and suddenly and at an early age. I think it's time people dropped the "edgy" act. :D

In fairness Irish Guitarist, I can understand people not hearing of Greg Lake. Emerson Lake and Palmer's music was a bit niche and wouldn't have received airplay for decades. The only universally recognised song by him is I Believe In Father Christmas and while people would know the song they wouldn't know him.

Yeah 2016 enjoyed picking off the niche market.

She was just trying to make a name for herself like 1347, 1918, 1945.

But there are more "celebs" in 2016 than let's say 50 years ago thanks to the Kim Kardashian effect. Pointless people are now famous, people with no skills or talents are now famous. We have made people famous just for being famous.

He announced around a month ago that he had cancer. That probably prompted them to tie the knot. He was a great writer, huge loss to criticism.

There's no denying 2016 has taken some huge icons, like Bowie and Prince, as well as numerous untimely deaths. It'd be a bit silly if people acted like this were normal even if it is likely to be the new normal.

I'm not making relative statements just using examples. Ali was of course a huge icon in and out of sport. The point is that they're all iconic though and not merely famous.
