I have rung around a few gyms enquiring about membership, a few of them dont seem to have showers etc. is this not a requirement by law ?

Why would it be required by law? Not being smart I'm genuinely curious why you think it would be?

Definitely not a requirement by law ...it's your choice as to what gym you pick while most gyms will have showers a lot of the smaller cheaper ones wont and this will probably reflect in cost of your membership...my gym does but I only use gym after work and I live 5 minutes away so i tend to shower at home ...shower probably important if using before or during lunch break..
end of the day it your choice

No it is not required by law , the facilities will be reflected in the cost of the membership and it's up to you which you chose based on your requirements.
Smaller and cheaper = probably no showers or swimming pool

A gym without shower is ridiculous, and disgusting. What, They expect people to walk or drive home soaked in their own sweat?

Personally I wouldn't go there If I were you.

I, and many more people, go home and shower. It's not ridiculous.

It's grand really as if your not happy with that arrangement you don't have to sign up and can find another gym. I mean I've played football all my life and have probably had a shower once after a game because the facilities just aren't available , I sweat a lot more during a match than in the gym and I live until I get home to shower believe it or not...it's fine..

Gyms are not required to be licensed in Ireland, so there are no legal requirements to have showers (or anything else).

Lots of people exercise in parks and other public spaces, and go home to shower. Somehow, the nation survives. People exercising and then driving before they have an opportunity to shower is not a health or hygiene risk.

my gym has a shower .. it's warm .. not really hot, very low pressure .. akin to an auld man standing on the roof and pissing over the edge. My bathroom at home about 5mins away has a shower that would take skin off an elephant if you wanted it to and piping hot water ... I never use the shower in the gym
