Good work. I kept looking at the other thread but didn't know what half the other posters were talking about!

I have my interview Monday. I did reasonably well in the exams, got a higher score in mathematics than Verbal. Got word of my interview 2 weeks ago. So if 150 people are invited to interview than means 650 people didn't reach the final stage? The reason I know is because I have a little birdy who told me 800 sat the exams.

I'd love to know of the 150 how many will be placed and how long they have to wait. Applied about 6 months ago!

I applied in June, Did worse in the maths because my calculator it was the first time I used it and it kept reverting to fractions, so it would say 3 3/4 instead of 3.75 or whatever and I had to keep doing them on paper... Also I worked in a cash office for years and am so used to using the electric calculator where you kinda use it backwards. Got nearly all the verbal correct bar one. I think people did reach the final stage, I know a girl who got graded C, I think they are just interviewing the higher gradings first.

Oh right. I got a B so as long as I dont mess up the interview I stand a chance. Time will tell!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 657 ✭✭✭tracey turnblad

I never got a grading in my email...just the scores. Im really nervous for this interview. I've been offered a place on the civil service competition but I would love the Dublin city council because its nearer to me.

I'm reading over my application form, I found it by chance in my emails, I had luckily emailed it to myself. I can read through the answers I gave and it give a little narrative about what they want in a clerical officer

My panel was the same as yours and I don't think they were friendly at all. Had easier interviews in the private sector!

Anyone know the pass rate for these interviews

Lol I'm faith not tatranska. All I know is I'll be glad to get mine out of the way.

One plus I'd tell you is that you were called earlier for interview than others so it means you scored higher in the exams.

I'd still like to know when we'd hear though, 6 months waiting already.

Should know by Friday I've heard.

Aptitude scores have no relevance at this stage. It's all down to the interview.

Well best of luck with the outcome. I'll let you know how I get on Monday.

Well just to let everyone know that my interview went really today. It lasted about 20mins and was asked about different scenarios and how I solved them and what I knew about the position and what it would involve.

I found the interview board to be very nice and if you do some research and look over your notes you should be ok.

One piece of advice for anyone interviewing without sounding patronising is wear a suit or if female look the part. Because I noticed everyone who was interviewing made the effort so if you dress casual it could go against you marks wise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 657 ✭✭✭tracey turnblad

I dont think there are marks for attire... I think your just marked on competencies, but it does make you feel better to dress smartly.

But it's all about first impressions Tracey. Each to their own but I suggest anyone interviewing to make the effort. I personally hate wearing a suit but for interviews its a must.

Yea I agree, might not get extra points for a suit but sure they might not be very generous with the marks if you don't look like you made an effort

I'd say they made their decision the second after you left the interview room. It's not logical to review all the candidates once the interviews are over .i.e today.

I'd say I'll be called back, not because I got the job but they could do with a right laugh!

They told me after Christmas, although the Guy wasnt really sure, he said probably after Christmas...will they email or post do you think?

I was told that I'd be informed if I was on the panel before Christmas, which implies that the interview is a yes/no decision and some other criteria is used to rank us in order. It also implies that there won't be job offers before Christmas; merely the result of the interview. They told me that I'd get a letter, so it must be by post for some reason.

Appointment's won't be made until after Garda vetting and medical are done.

They told some people it would be after Christmas, and some before Christmas.
I'm just gonna assume it's after Christmas so I don't annoy myself,
If anyone hears back could you let us know.thanks

People who are successful will be ranked in Order of Merit 1 to whatever last successful person is. Between medicals, checking references, etc it will be mid February for a start date.
