Fire TV and alexa

    Got an amazon fire tv (which is awesome) but Alexa only seems to be doing voice search. It's definitely an Alexa remote. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Ok, it should support alexa so. Do you see the fire tv on your alexa app or on the alexa web interface?

    Yeah we can see the fire tv on the web interface. It's a really strange one coz all the articles online say it should just work but it's definitely not. Like if we ask what's the weather it just searches for movies on weather and doesn't show the weather screen like you see in the screen shots in the articles online

    I'm having the same issue, did you get any further? Talking to the remote is a bit of a pain though.

    No unfortunately. Now having said that I haven't had a chance to reset the box to factory settings

    I don't think I'll go to the effort of resetting the box just for Alexa, only use it at the moment for Kodi and don't use the Amazon side of things at all.

    We actually just switched the amazon account to mine from his and for some reason its working now? Very odd. I don't have prime or anything-neither does he

    Anyone else having this problem or know anyone way around it? I also only get the regular voice search.

    Alexa on fire tv is not available in the UK yet (I asked Amazon directly the other day) so if it is working for some accounts maybe they are using a US account?
