Hi..couple of questions if I can. Looking for some coaching reommendations in south Dublin or city area. Hope to join a masters club soon but still horrendously slow.

Other question is about front crawl. Had some one to one coaching but I was told not to rotate legs, only shoulder, and to keep my gliding hand on entry very close to the surface of the water. Both of these points went against what I read in swim smooth which made me lose some confidence in the coaching. Are both points above correct?

    Thanks

By the level you are suggesting you are at, it is very difficult to adhere to any particular technique, as you learn it. The coaching advice you are getting is based on the 'coach' watching you. I'm using coach in quotes because generally coaches wouldn't be giving one to one sessions. Teachers however would, and they would be be reacting to anything they think would be hampering your technique.

Swim smooth is more of a coaching platform as they would focus on all aspects. . . fitness, endurance, technique, diet, rest and so on. Without knowing your coach or what you a reading in swim smooth, I'd say both were true.
