I'm still getting over the news I received yesterday from the educational psychologist that my 11 y.o. is dyslexic (spelling and working memory are the principal weaknesses), but at the same time is in the 'very superior' range - 98 percentile - for verbal and reading comprehension. It is on the basis of the comprehension scores that the educational psychologist has recommended CTYI. Could anyone with experience of CTYI programmes advise me if a child who is acutely aware of their poor spelling ability and slower pace of written work would get on ok, or whether it's full of genius children with whom she may compare herself negatively? I'd love to give it a try, but I'd hate for it to be an upsetting experience for her, so all advice is most welcome.
