    The Chinese do some great epic action/war films that Hollywood just don't do anymoore such as red cliff and assembly.

    When an action movie where a sophisticated LA heist by a group of terrorists is interrupted by a New York cop is the greatest Christmas movie ever made then you know it's a great.

    I think the sequels get a bit of a hard time. Sure, they're nowhere near as good as the first one, but in isolation they're pretty decent. Especially the second one. There are some great action sequences, like the motorway car chase.

    Ong Bak - Tony Jaa knees and elbows his way though everyone. No wires , no CGI, just pain. The scene with the flames, had retakes :eek:

    Pretty as a picture, literally. Lovely colours and composition.
    A Shakespearean tragedy set in feudal Japan by Kurosawa the director of Throne Of Blood, a comedy it ain't.

    The Good , The Bad and The Ugly. Takes three hours to build up to a climax of three guys just standing around doing nothing.

    The Good, The Bad, The Weird , because Japanese occupied China is the perfect setting for a Korean version of the above.


    El Mariachi - it's an OK film until you realise it cost only $7,225 to make. 47 Ronin made a loss of $12,500 more that that, for every second of it's two hours that I'll never get back. Plot beats CGI every time.

    Conan the Barbarian. Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. ... Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!

    The haircuts don't hold up so well in Die Hard, but the sequential editing done for all the action set pieces are still f***n class. Timeless action
