God be with the days when Boardsies used to create the Late Late Show thread on Thursday morning ... just to be sure they got there before anyone else. Those days are but a distant memory now :(

Anyway, here is what's happening on the Late Late Show tonight - Misery, Misery, More Misery and 100% extra free Misery.....

    220px-Miseryposter.jpg

Daniel O'Donnell - The Donegal crooner will be on the show after taking an 18-month break from touring and will be chatting to Ryan about returning to the stage again, filming his RTÉ Christmas special and travelling around Ireland with wife Majella for another series of their B&B Road trip.

Liverpudlian comedian John Bishop will join Ryan to chat about how it was Ireland that gave him his first big break in television with appearances on The Panel and The Late Late Show.

Also on the show, TV presenter Angela Scanlon will be on talking about her success over in London where she has spent the autumn presenting Robot Wars alongside Dara Ó Briain, and will soon begin a presenting gig on BBC's The One Show.

Crime correspondent Paul Williams will be in to talk about the escalating gangland warfare in Dublin and will be telling us why things have gotten much worse in the 20 years since Veronica Guerin’s death shocked the nation.

As the Marie Keating Foundation launches a new exhibition aimed at raising awareness of prostate cancer among Irish men, we’ll be hearing from three who have survived the disease – rugby player Tony Ward, GAA manager Sean Boylan and newsreader Michael Murphy. They’ll be sharing their personal stories of their, sometimes harrowing, battle against cancer and telling us why men need to get wise about their health and get themselves checked.

Finally, there will be music from Gavin James and of course Daniel will be performing a number or two.

Was going to start the thread, but couldn't bring myself to do it.

Is it because they have a quota of misery for every show, which means they have some leftover cos of the Toy Show, and they have to use it up?

Okay, be positive. John Bishop is good. Erm...that's it. Jesus.

Bad and all as it is it's still preferable to the toy show.

The movie Misery is the best option.

Being IN the movie Misery is better than watching the toy show.

I've already exceeded my misery quota this week, Donie - I've endured a couple of mornings of Paul Williams on Newstalk Breakfast.

    Ouch. Are you okay? :D

It's a sorry story that we all come here to have the craic, but it's wearing thin now because, well, how many times can you have the craic watching Daniel & Majella? Never mind the panel.

Am i right in saying this, because I'm struggling to understand: they have a panel of people on to tell us to watch out for cancer. On a Friday night talk show. Watch out for cancer. Jesus.

Just got an update from the Irish Times telling me a woman will be on to talk about being a carer tonight.

Best cancer slot in a while. In fairness.

Wife headed out and told me to enjoy Toy Show with my Zinfandel.

I didn't know I was facing a pain in the hole. Literally.

Most people I know just want to curl up on the sofa and relax on a Friday night. They want to be entertained at the end of a busy week and most importantly they want a break from their real life problems. Items on Dementia, Cancer, Suicide, Depression every Friday night is not entertainment :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,739 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

Anyway, in sort of related to the OP news...

I finally got around to watching Stephen King's IT the other day.

My verdict? Not that scary. Bit disappointing, actually.

In short, clowns are creepy, but once when the scary things don't make any sense in either the real world or the movie world, it sort of loses it's impact.

    So, there you go.

John Bishop? Ok, that's me off to bed. One of D unfunniest prats to ever parade as a comedian....

Williams? Rehashing the same tired bollix the past 20 years..

Hahaha. And that's why we come here!

Ryan - "Your looking very festive tonight Fix"
Fix - " Well Ryan - I may have had cancer - but I love Christmas"
Ryan - " Well that is the attitude we need - not like that one Katie the bitch Hopkins"
Fix - " I know Ryan - she made mince meet of ya"

Ryan " So back to the cancer".

He was funny at the start imo - very very few comedians last, he has overstayed his mark.

There are a few that work forever - Billy Connolly, Robbin Williams, Two Ronnies etc - they are a very rare breed.

    Not Mario Rosenstock.

Who holds the record or LLS appearances?

Daniel must be close. No exaggeration, he's literally on every single week.

    Not Mario Rosenstock.
They should have invited this lady back to make up for the disappointment of the Mario experience.

Jesus, I really think ryan and RTE know that the only show he is semi competent on is the toy show. hey have been selling the hell out of it for weeks. They are over selling it at this point. Its not exactly a show anyone forgets to watch. Ryan is good on toy show but jesus every 2nd ad on rte is for it now

It seems all Daniel and Louis Walsh have to do is walk past the RTE building and they are on the late late.

    Keitho - Boyzone I'd say.

Ah no, it's more yer Pat Shortts or Oliver Callans.

So I am watching Gogglebox, I turn over to the LLS at the ad break, and cancer is mentioned.

If I was head of RTE the LLS would be banned from mentioning diseases, and the Ray Darcy show would simply be banned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,882 ✭✭✭✭Rock Lesnar

Strictly getting a lot of mentions, Ryan better ask him about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74,322 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

Here's how we greeted Ryan at Holyhead...

I like Daniel and Majella, they appear to be very genuine and down to earth.

I'll never forget the night Daniel and Germaine Greer appeared on the Miriam O'Callaghan Show, she was being particularly cutting and he put her in her place.

Daniel never seems to stress over anything.. he's so relaxed it's hard to see him dying of a heart attack.
