Popular comedian and star of The Royle Family Ricky Tomlinson will be talking to Ray about the infamous show as well as his time on Brookside and his recent letter of support to the water protestors in Jobstown.

Former Ireland and Munster rugby player Donncha O'Callaghan will also be on the couch tonight.

Obesity expert Dr Eva Orsmond will join Ray to share her concerns about the challenges facing Ireland when it comes to weight loss and the abuse of both prescription and over the counter pills.

And as they prepare to take to the stage in Vicar Street next month, football pundits John Giles and Eamon Dunphy will tell Ray about why they have chosen to have their Christmas party live on stage.

The Ray D'Arcy Show tonight on RTE One at 9:50pm.

That looks decent, hope Gilesy sings a tune at the end.

For the first time in her life, Dr Eva Orsmond is about to become the recipient of a lecture about the dangers of sugar.

Donnacha and Gilesy were both on last season. They both can be good guests in fairness.

Actually I'm surprised Gilesy has come back on as it looked like he really didn't enjoy it last time. Giles gets very annoyed, on radio anyway, if some one calls him a dirty player. Guess what was on the tip of Rays tongue the whole time?

I think Giles might have interrupted him so he couldn't say it!

Not a bad line-up (apart from Dr. Eva, I'm so not a fan).

I adored the Royle Family, it still remains one of my favourite British sitcoms of all time. It had the ability to have you in stitches laughing one minute and then move you to tears the next.

I think the bathroom scene when Denise goes into labour and Jim tries to reassure her is a great example of how beautifully written and acted the show was. The 'Queen of Sheba' episode (when Nana dies) was incredibly moving also.

I presume Ricky will speak about the late Caroline Aherne tonight, she is such a massive loss to the world of comedy, even Googlebox isn't the same without her voice over.

I've listened to Caroline's ex-husband, Peter Hook being interviewed on a number of occasions in the last few months. In his auto-biography, he claims that he was the victim of domestic violence during his marriage to Caroline. He has my sympathy if this is true, no one should live in fear of their partner.

However, I sincerely wish he had raised these issues BEFORE she died, when she would have had an opportunity to respond to his accusations. I feel that it's wrong that her good name and reputation has been tarnished (in the eyes of some people) and her side of the story has died with her :(

Between the radio show and tv show Donnacha O'Callaghan must be into double figures now for appearances

A mannequin would probably interview guests better than Ray.

    Good Evening All,

The countdown to Christmas has officially started in this house.

We put our Christmas tree up at 3 o’clock this morning :o I had a sick child in the house so I decided we should do something fun to take their mind off how crap they were feeling.

When our elderly neighbours pulled up in a taxi after being at a wedding all day, they were more than a little surprised :D

At least they found their way safely to their front door, thanks to our tree, which has more lights than the runaway at Shannon Airport, thanks to my little helper :pac::pac::pac:

That's a decent line up in fairness. Ricky will be good craic.

An argument rarely made in Jimmy Savilles defence. :pac: Joshing aside she was a lady who clearly had her personal demons, though you are right, I would wish her to be able to defend her name.

Mrs. Merton and The Royle Family were brilliant and so was/is Gogglebox, she was definitely a funny comedienne AND that some would argue is not possible. Indeed a big loss to funnybones everywhere.

Lets start the countdown to the big juicy question... "So Ricky, how did you feel when you heard the news?"

Some people did make complaints about Saville while he was alive but no action was taken against him.

    What ages are they?

Do you think he'll play rugby?

No Ray, he's told me that he wants to take to the stage..

He is brilliant. Normally at this stage 6 mins into the D'Arcy I'd usually have switched to TV3's Gogglebox but he is comedy gold.

I think they have stocked the audience with a few professional laughers. Or are they they boosting it with canned laughter?

Ah he is a likeable affable lad. He plays dumber than he is I reckon.

Nah, he had no intentions of doing a show that night, the tight git.

He had three unfamous comedians lined up, even though it was billed as "An Evening with Ricky Tomlinson"
