Assume he means Coutinho either starts or isn't in squad at all, i.e., he doesn't come on for 5 minute cameos. So you are safe enough to start him in your first XI.

If I had a better 5th mid, I probably would have done. Not completely illogical to put Coutinho on the bench and bring him on if needed like Klopp did after the Sept international break

Just seen that Capoue scored and cursed myself because he is first sub but then noticed that Gundogan didn't start and he isn't in the bench either so happy days.
