Awww man that's a balls looks like Carl didn't stow away with the Saviours like he does in the comics :( that would have made for some amazing scenes between him and Neegan

Comic Spoilers above and possible TV ones .....Anyone dissapointed with the above ?

I'm done for now. I'm just going to binge-watch the remaining three episodes.

Awful tenuous episode alright. I get the attempt to familiarise us with the whole Gregory/Jesus dynamic and clearly set out the stall of Maggie being hinted as the future leader of the Hilltop but it was so forgettable!

Only thing that saved the episode somewhat was Simon's engagements with Gregory (actually, Simon in general!) and Maggie in those skinny jeans!

Yeah, binge watching really would be the best route to go down at this stage if you can hide your head under a stone!. I always found binge watching most shows far better anyway and hearing spoilers doesn't generally ruin my viewing experience.
Hopefully, things will start kicking off next week. It is hard to imagine as bad an episode as that again,

Ya I think that was the worst episode in the history of the show.

Am I the only one that cannot stand Maggie?

    She's so ugly and depressing.

Slightly better than the episodes with Negan. Which isn't saying much.

Christ, one thing Lauren Cohan isn't is ugly!
And, she has had pretty good reason to be depressed for most of the last season and half to be fair!

But, no, wouldn't care much for her character. Her grieving for Beth after not giving a cr£p about her for a couple of seasons put me off her! The over drawn attempt at the southern accent makes her annoying also!

    But far from ugly!

    Garbage episode.

EDIT: The only real saving grace is that they spared us a whole episode of Sasha and Maggie trying to get to the Hilltop.

Have to say, I thought it was pretty OK - just so grateful that it wasn't a 'Carol' episode.

I may have been been asleepthrough half of this season's episodes but do all Negan's band refer to each other as Negan in casual conversation when talking to each other because that could get v confusing. At least the smurfs had papa smurf and smurfette some small differences in the naming structure.

But yeah the current episode was sh!te

Worst episode of the series by a mile and one of the worst WD episodes ever. It was weird and lazy and all over the place. It was like they got the writers from Fear The Walking Dead in for one episode and they were given their brief but then they took all the bad things from FWTD and brought them into the main show.

Gregory is a truly **** character. I just find myself wanting him to go away as soon as I see him. The scenes with him and Simon were painfully cheesy, I don't know if it was the acting or the dialogue or what. Probably both.

The scene where Carl showed up in the car just in time to 'save' Enid...woeful. And then they find roller skates! Watching them skate off down the road together was like a bad 70s advert for Wrigley chewing gum. You just want to look the other way. How do they think people find their 'story' interesting in any way?

Maggie's monster truck scene was lamentable. It was like an out-take or something. I kept asking myself was this actually happening in the Walking Dead. And then she gives Glenn's/Herschel's watch to Enid. Why?! Why on earth would she do that?

As far as any plot or story, all you needed to watch was the very last scene with Carl and Jesus on their merry way to Negan's compound and that would have sufficed. Let's be honest here folks, that episode was garbage.

It's around this point I lost interest in the comics and looks like it'll be the same with the TV show.

It's a chore to watch it these days

    Terrible episode.

88 episodes so far, 100 is the magic number for syndication afaik so hopefully once they get there they'll start to think about ending the show.

It's becoming very like Lost, dragging the sh*t out of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭DoozerT6

Tottering about on rollerskates like newborn gazelles?

Yeah, real sensible if they come upon a group of walkers unexpectedly...

I read somewhere that the writers have plans in place for seasons 11 and 12 so I wouldn't hold your breath. I actually really enjoyed season 6 but this season has been garbage so far. Becoming a real struggle to watch now.

I had myself convinced the saviours had seen some of yer woman's "famous Jam" at Alexandria and that's why they went there. :pac:

Also I really think Enid should have left those balloons at home....

He went to go kill negan I assume.
Sasha had asked jesus to go find out where negan lives but coral had already thought of that.
So now jebus has to look after one eyed now joe too

Brutal episode tonight. Show has taken a real nose dive this season IMO.

A strange episode for me, I was completely disengaged from the characters as they tried to come to terms with the events of episode 1, still fresh for them but well resolved for me. A symptom of the poorly structured narrative prevalent this season. The whole tractor thing felt completely out of place, the kind of thing I'd expect to see in Z Nation. Out of place but cool.

I did enjoy the little moment with Carl & Enid rollerskating as dumb as it was. It was a small moment of happiness in an otherwise bleak existence for them. And good for Carl at the end, that was the first time in ages he wasn't annoying.

Also plenty of Trevor Philips... I mean Steven Ogg, which is always enjoyable.

I liked it more than I hated it 7/10

Could see that being the last straw for a lot of people. Dreadful stuff.

Not even just because it was boring, some of the acting was atrocious and that whole music scene was like a parody.

I actually didn't hate this episode the way some of you did. Was it dull and boring? Sure. But at least this one didn't insult your intelligence by featuring a former battered wife now acting like Solid Snake, or a crazy guy with a CGI tiger who's convinced Trump country people to make him their king, or a whistling Russell Brand-esque prancing irritant trying to act like a hard man. By the shockingly low standards this show has plummeted to, I thought this episode was fine. Compared to the other episode's goofiness this episode was like a breath of fresh air to me. NO Austin Tatious. NO Carol. NO whacky Disney king. I actually made it through this episode without having to pull clumps of my hair out or swear at the telly. Result.

Having said that, there were flaws. And dumb ones at that.

Carl says he's done saving Enid - dude, you locked her in a closet. No one thinks it's heroic keeping someone in a closet unless you're a Hollywood agent. And our great hero follows this promise up - he's DONE saving her remember - by nearly killing himself, colliding head on into a walker with a car to save her. She didn't look like she was in danger, plus how could she not spot the thing in such an open space in the first place?

The character of Jesus is a bit all over the place - he was brazen enough to take on Daryl and Rick at the same time last season but now he doesn’t have the guts to challenge a guy with all the gravitas and stature of David Moyes? Doesn't wash.

As others mentioned on the thread, the walkers don't feel a threat now. We had an invasion of them with only three people to fend them off - one pregnant - and yet I never felt they were in danger. Quite a contrast to the invasion of the farm early in the show. The zombies have become like the putties in Power Rangers: just an irritating side-mission now.

The scene with the roller blades was cringeworthy. At least have a walker show up and give us a fun chase scene. How great would that have been? And Carl shouting, 'Enid, glide to me. Quick.'

Simon was good imo. This guy is a VAST improvement on Austin Tatious aka Negan, although that's not hard. He actually carries an air of menace about him and doesn't feel like it's forced. It doesn't feel like it's coming from a guy who before the apocalypse was probably doing amateur dramatics on Saturday afternoons which is the vibe I get from the other wally. I liked the tension of the scene with him and Gregory. Was it my imagination or was Gregory presented as nice last season? Now he seems to have gone full-blown arse which feels hard to buy.

Back to Carl who seems to have taken the recent harrowing events that the group faced in his stride, and now wants to go Commando on several dozen armed guys. Enid meanwhile wants him to go Commando in a different way. What does Carl do? Why, puts himself in mortal danger of course by going after the armed guys! This guy is too dumb to care about.

Maggie's accent seems to have gone OTT in between the seasons too. It felt milder last season whereas now she feels like she could be an extra on King of the Hill. I was half expecting her to offer Gregory propane and propane accessories. Oh, and as for her reason for giving away the watch - 'I don't need anything to remember Glenn', be honest Maggie: you gave that watch away because it's jinxed. Lookwhat happened to the others that had it. If I was Enid I'd give it to Gregory.

So not a great episode by any means, but because all the usual annoying culprits were out of the way I found this much easier to get through, and I will give this episode a pass grade, which I believe is the first one from me of the season: 4/10.

The high of episode 1 allowed a couple of slow filler episodes, but jeez, this is taking the mick. From a mountain top to a valley in terms of tense drama over the season. That scene with the fires and music playing, there was no edge to it, it just happened without any serious sense of threat.

This guy voiced the character of Trevor in GTAV and by god it was a role he was born to play. He would have been a fantastic choice to have played Negan but I guess the directors wanted someone more high profile or with more experience.

Not the most memorable episode ever.

How does Carl think he can kill Neagan (I presume that is why he is in the truck) with no weapons? I get that he is angry, but his lack of common sense is astounding.

I'd agree with the general consensus here. I think I'll be binge watching the rest of the season after the last one has aired.

Didn't think it was that bad tbh. Liked the info re hilltop, interesting to see jesus would never be leader, bit like daryl but not as strong or stupid maybe..

for some previous poster, Gregory was an arsehole last season too...

Liked seeing Maggie and Sasha , tho poor Sasha, getting the necklace Rosita made for Abe...

Sometimes think those who think Carl is awful don't know any teenagers.. I think he's convincing as teen, tho really really hate his hair. Every teen knows what to do, how the world works etc. V v many teens would make decision to go and kill negan.

Funny how boxsets has really changed how people rate shows, as someone who watched 1-4 in two wks, its strange how unsatisfying one at time is. Watching them all together , would get rid of one story one location one week..

And nice to see michonne make effort to cheer rick up, even tho she clearly thinks he's wrong

Viewer numbers are holding up pretty well considering it's season 7. They're getting 11-12 million in the US each week, more than they were getting in first three seasons. Episode 1 this season got 17m. It peaked around 13-14m each week in Season 5.

By contrast, my favourite show on TV, which is The Americans gets under 1m viewers in the US each week.

That will never happen. It gets considerably more viewers on a weekly basis than other massive shows like Games of Thrones, sometimes the figures are actually double GOT.

No danger of cancellation, which means it will continue to plod and meander at unnecessarily slow pace.

The last season of Fear the Walking Dead, whilst not a great production, was far better paced than TWD.

The show is really starting to ask a lot of the viewers in that I am finding I am still watching due to commitment rather than anticipation

This episode really annoyed me - even the moments in it that were supposed to raise the tempo
    1. The Hill Top gates being breached
    2. Negans men searching the house will they find Maggie & Sasha
    Were both mehhhh at best

Carl's arrival to come to Enids aid made no sense whatsoever
I was literally asking myself wtf is going on has the feed skipped and I've missed something

Rollerskates me billix - that's all I am saying on that matter

I just hope Negan kills Carl
