They started with the wings but went without them later in the day. They are not actually banned until 2017. I think they ran them to change one part at a time. Better for the engineers.

Weather was cold, 7°C when they started testing. Thats why the shrouds were on the front brakes.

With the exception of one or two riders - results looks like a typical race result we have seen this year. Early days of course but would like to see a shakeup similar to Kawasaki did for WSB in recent years

You don't think this season's racing was a real mix up? 9 different winners this year?

Each team has had their own interpretation of a fairing so far, this is the most radical though.

The whole Ducati is crazy looking with the lunch-box rear as well. The rear now houses the electronics, so thats why the rear is a bit bigger now.

Still remains to be seen what iteration they will race though.

Here are each teams versions so far. Ducati win this one on craziness alone. Dovi has said though that the result still isnt the same as the wings from last year.

    Agreed.

Ducati are the pnes playing with it the most as they benefited hugely from the wings last year. They have had front end issues with their bikes for years now.

Big change for lorenzo. Totally new bike with a new design that the still testing. I read an interview with him and he said he has to change his riding style but still thinks he will be in the top 5. I find that hard to see but I could be wrong.

Looks like vinales will be the one to watch

Yes I am hoping for the same. With new changes to bikes and riders I'm hoping there will be a mix of race winners like last season.

What hope have new comers zarco, rins, lowes or folger?

Really hope it's not a season of everyone chasing one rider

I bit the bullet today and bought the VideoPass for the first time.

hopefully it's decent. So far looks good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 685 ✭✭✭legrand

don't forget it auto-renews at end of season (you will get reminder though).  It's good mind.  Hint - find the 'no spoiler' link and save that link in your bookmarks- otherwise, if catching up post race you end up seeing the big splash headline announcing the winner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 708 ✭✭✭Magown3

I noticed it auto renewed alright. I've unchecked it. I'll see what it's like first.

Watched Simoncelli's final full race last night in Philip Island. Great to see it again

    What did it cost?

I've had it the last 2 years and find it excellent, although this years renewal went from €99 to €140.

Will stick with by sports so.

Noticed Ducati never went with the radical front wings fender.

Vinales .6 of a sec quicker In fp1. Guy is insanely fast.

Makes me wonder how he could slot straight into the bike and do so well and vale seems to not be on the pace with the same bike

Vale seems to have a monumental task ahead to even stay on the same lap as Vinales! I'm just hoping his usual focus on race pace will pay dividends on raceday but so far the signs are not very encouraging :-(

Weather has stalled free practice and qualifying. It's hard to think how a track could have so bad drainage

Qualifying cancelled. Combined free practice times to make up the grid. Should make some great racing tomorrow.

What happens if it rains tomorrow?

The decision will be made tomorrow but if it's wet I'd imagine they'll keep delaying things because even if it's wet for warmup that'll be at dusk and not applicible for a wet test by riders

Can you explain to me why rain is such a bad thing there. I know the water was standing still on the track and that's dangerous but that's never really a problem anywhere else

Everywhere else doesn't have floodlights reflecting up off a wet track into the riders eyes.

Not bad considering zarco, iannone ahhh crutchlow all crashed out.

Zarco from 1 at place. For the small few laps he did he looked good. Would of been interesting could be have kept the lead
