BUT it has to be over with a good proper ending or have a good few seasons and be building to a proper ending.

Not Sopranos, GOT, Breaking Bad, The West Wing as he's watched all them. He's watching Criminal Minds, Major Crimes and NCIS and a few others at the min but he hates the wait between eps of new shows and has got burned with a few cancelled shows lately aswell.

    Any ideas?

I wonder has imdb got some killer list now that I write this...

All watched as well but thanks. I need to get an up to date list off him, it's not that long though really.

Ooh yea, Longmire and Deadwood (see that mentioned the whole time on here but had literally no clue what it was about till there now) these have definite potential. They'd keep him going for awhile if he likes them. Dark evenings are a fecker.

    Thanks guys.

+1 for Narcos . Great show.

He blazed through Banshee in a few weeks. Loved it. Breaking Bad and GOT were the same, he'd stay up all hours if really likes it. I tell him not to so they'll last him abit but "I had to watch one more"

    We've all been there.

I'll nab the first few, looks different.

Didn't take to either, he'd literally give anything a go.

Have him watching Dark Matter at the minute aswell, so any genre really.

Wow, I think both are great. Prison break but it's a bit Murphy's law like. The wire?
Maybe scratch prison break, it gets predictive

He couldn't take to Wahlberg, I actually dropped it because of him myself.

Longer running shows the better, if he likes one I can just drop him over a rake of eps to keep him going.

Granted TWD season 1 is a bit average and two the same, it really kicks off after that. 'One more episode' sort of thing.
    Love/Hate, like marmite though

OK so now that you have established that your father is big into sex(banshee) and drugs(breaking bad) it has narrowed the field.

Deadwood is great but it didn't have a proper ending. It got cancelled after season 3. I think they might be making a film to wrap it up.

I'd recommend The Shield. 7 seasons and mostly consistent

    Stuff that hasn't been mentioned:

-Better Call Saul, if he liked Breaking Bad.
-Fargo, the film too if he's never seen it.
    -Oz
-True Detective, the first season at least, but I also enjoyed the second season.
-And one of the greatest shows ever, Twin Peaks.

    The Americans.

One of the best things I've seen over the last few years. And because it's set in the early eighties Cold War its more likely to appeal to someone who can remember the era.

Oh white collar, nice one. Definitely has potential. He's watching/watched the others.

Does Deadwood have a real bad ending? I've got the first 2 EPs but he'll have my head haha if I get him into another one with a sh1t ending.

    Friday Night Lights?

    Kind of.

He may love it. But he'd hardly admit it.

Possibly the worst ending in the history of TV. A few good seasons in the middle, but I can't get over just how sh*te the ending was!

Broadchurch or the missing. Season 2 of the missing being aired now but 1st season was a separate case and I really enjoyed it!

On the war series; Someone already mentioned Band Of Brothers which was good, there's also The Pacific which covered the war with Japan and was really good.
There's also Generation Kill about the invasion of Iraq.
