Nightmare I Can't Shake

I rarely dream. Mostly I close my eyes, go to sleep, wake up in the morning. But when I do have a dream/nightmare, it tends to be very vivid.

I had a nightmare a few weeks ago that has stuck with me, it really scared the living daylights out of me. Do you believe that messages/warnings can be sent in the form of dreams?

Basically, I dreamt that my mother came to me and she kept telling me to hurry, hurry, that my father needs me and is about to have a heart attack

Needless to say, I run and run and I eventually find him face down and well, dead!

I have never experienced anything like this before and I can't push it to the back of my mind. I keep wondering if it is a warning, that something I dismissed in reality is surfacing in my subconscious.

Father health worries? Might influence dreams. Like lucid dreaming.

That sounds horrible. So sorry that this is stuck in your head.

I dream frequently, and like you, mine are typically quite vivid.

A few years ago I had such dreams too, but fortunately most dreams I have today are short escapes from reality, some amusing, some randomly scattered, and only a very, very few troubling.

My occupational orientation does not support the idea that there may be messages/warnings in dreams; certainly not literal ones. Then again, if you have a great deal of distress in your awake life, this may end up in such dreams while asleep.

Awake worries cause for worried dreams?
