Unbelievable game involving Wimbledon again. 3-0 down after 80 mins to Curzon Ashton, three goals in three minutes followed by a brilliant last second header to put them through.

Not many shocks looking likely with most EPL teams at home.Could see Derby, Wednesday and Wolves beating WBA, Middlesborough and Stoke.
Can also see Bolton giving Palace a good game and Preston are in good form so could get a result depending on the Arsenal team. Burton may also beat a dire Watford as well.

Good game tonight to kick it off. City should win cause I can't see Bilic surviving much longer. It seems like panic time at that club with their scattergun approach to transfers.

Overall I suspect Arsenal are favourites this year. They have a history of taking the Emirates cup very seriously

So not many shocks except for the 6 matches that may supply shocks........there is a job on Soccer Saturday awaiting that kind of insight.

I'd consider a shock as a L2 or non league team beating a EPL or Championship team. Dont think its much of a shock for a decent Championship team beating a bottom 10 EPL team or 2nd team in some cases.
Dont think many would be shocked if  Burton, Derby, Wednesday or Wolves won over the weekend

At least 2 big tipsters have gone for the Baggies e.w. outright @ 50/1 so I'd expect them to win. Apparently, Pulis got Stoke to a final once. WBA have 29 points so won't get relegated and they have no chance of catching the top 6. He always puts out his best side, so they won't lose. Teams looking over their shoulders at the bottom of the table could be beaten alright.

Even with my blue tinted specs on, I can't see it. Pep will probably have the kids out tonight. And also, it's West Ham's last shot at silverware this season. They'll be more up for it than we will. 2-0 to the Hammers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Frankly it's an utter disgrace - the magic of the Cup will be intoned across the BBC and BT over this extended weekend and yet look at the witless selection of ties they have picked.

I don't really agree with that. Arsenal take it as seriously as any other of the top teams. They make wholesale changes the same as anyone. I expect a second string to be played tomorrow against Preston.

Aguero back for City, and not a team of kids.

Pep looks to be gunning for a big win with that lineup.

Excellent City move, starting at the back, breaking the press and creating an opportunity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Good move, excellent reverse pass and run off the ball. Really interesting tactic from Guardiola, using De Bruyne in a really deep wide position similar to how he'd use Alaba at times. Zabaleta breaking into the half space and Silva as an interior midfielder with Sterling playing very high.

    Ended up 3 on 1

3 West ham players went to play Aguero

They've cut West Ham open quite clinically, like a surgeon might an ailing body. Great football, great goal.

Those last two goals were things of beauty. Aided by City-style defending, it has to be said.

They really were, tbh City's setup tonight has bamboozled West Ham, they're getting through this press so easily and from there they are creating chances at will.

Sing when you're playing well. Again I'll say it, football isn't linear, I think you forget that when you address my posts. There's good games and bad. Is this City side as good as it should be given the money pumped into it? No, recruitment has been poor. Is there deadweight in the squad? Yes. Has tonight been an excellent performance? Yes. Will this team always give you excellent performances? Not as many as they should. Will this performance offer hope to Guardiola in the same way that his Bayern sides performance against City in the CL in his first season did? Possibly.

So.....the same as any other team then that pulls a big result out of the blue, yeah......!

Job done. Put that one to bed now, and start thinking about the game at Goodison next sunday. That one won't be as easy. But tonight can only serve as a boost to our confidence.

Looks like a few shocks in store.

West brom and Stoke loosing at home when they have been tipped to go well in this comp as they are safe from relegation.
Everton loosing to Leicester at home.
Ipswich loosing to non league Lincoln city.
    Millwall beating Bournemouth

    Hardly.

A good result for Leicester maybe, given some recent performances but no way a shock!
