I lost my keys in the house over the weekend and i cannot find them anywhere. We've searched every room twice. Looked under and inside the couch, in bins, toilets, dishwashers etc and they are nowhere to be seen.

Have you ever had something vanish on you?

How do you normally carry your keys OP? In a pocket, in a key fob, clipped to your belt?

btw did you look in the front door, car doors, boot and ignition?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 714 ✭✭✭PlainP

You probably binned them. Check before they collect tomorrow!!!

Or hungry pets and children. You will need to check these as well.....

They could be with my remote control, hasn't been seen in nearly a year. I still light a candle everyday in hope though.

Bin (bathroom, bedroom and kitchen), Jacket pocket, Bathrobe ( I found a blackberry in my bathrobe pocket after 2 years, shows how often I wear it), behind the radiator, behind teh toilet, In your shoes.

Checked the car, under the seats and in the boot. My last hope is in the wheelie bins. I usually carry them in my hand from the car to the door and leave them on the window ledge by the door.

    Phone them.

They were probably fished by a burglar.

Never EVER leave keys beside the front door.

I feel for you in this time of need. There are people who can help the remote man he appears any time you press all button together.

Were you locked when you lost your keys?

Happened me a while back and I turned sofas over, searched under beds, fridges, inside shoes, back of gas boilers, every single inch and eventually I had to arrange for a lock smith to come out to cut the steering lock on the car, replace the keys themselves (as I had no spare) house keys too.. was looking at €400 and as I was waiting for them to arrive the little old lady from down the road knocked on the door and gave them to me. Turns out I had left them sticking in the door the night before and she took them in case some tea leaf took them. That's the closest I ever came to having sex with an old woman.

Never, ever, put anything of value in a 'safe place'. You'll never see it again.

We've no letterbox so they would have had to smash the window or kick the door in.

I had them saturday morning when i went for breakfast and had them when i came home. Since then i can't find them and we're not talking about a small bunch either. There's 2 car keys, a house key, 2 big keys for work, two letterbox keys and 3 keyrings.

Leave them alone long enough and they'll probably breed and the baby keys will come running over the hill to meet you.

Have you taken any clothes to the cleaners, checked the stuff in the laundry basket, and looked at windowsills behind the blinds or curtains?

Checked all those places. Under beds, outside, in the fireplace, in the cats litter trays. I don't think theres anywhere else i can look.

You need to recreate what you did on Saturday. So try remembering exactly the steps you took when you came home.

Probably won't help in this case, OP. But; When ever I misplace or drop something and can't find it? I search with the aid of a torch. It's amazing how a bit of shadow can hide something from ye eyes.

They're not in the letterbox by any chance.

There is a logical explanation. It just hasn't emerged yet, but it will.

Go for brunch at half 7 on a Thursday evening? Time for a Plan B

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 990 ✭✭✭Ted111

    Let's apply some logic.
If they were in your house saturday morning and are now not there. And you missus isn't fcking with you. Then someone or something else moved them. Human, animal or ghost. If your house is not haunted then it must be a creature. Posum or a Magpie.

Logically a Magpie has stolen your keys. Statistically if you don't get them back in 24 hours you won't see them again.

The problem is you were wearing your weekend relax pants. Not your Sunday finest and not your work pants neither. So they are in them WRP pockets. But where are they? Still on the floor within the shadow of your bed?

or your hoodie. Damn pockets in hoodies!!

This thread is like 'I found a safe'....but the opposite.

Have you tried going on Ray D'Arcy Op?

check the weird storage space on the dash of the car that never closes right so you end up never opening it. Not that I found my lost driving licence there today three months late or anything...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,863 ✭✭✭✭crosstownk

I've found lots of missing things (money, phone, keys) trapped either down the side of a car seat or under the seat. Money often gets caught between the seat and the backrest. I found over €12 in coins one day under the drivers seat.

I had a remote control go missing for over 3 years and I found it one day lodged in the deep recesses of my couch that I'd searched a hundred times previously.

Did you drive or walk to breakfast? or more specifically did you drive there and walk back? would you have left them in the breakfast place and someone let you in the door when you got back home?
