The draws for next year are on tomorrow,so something to look forward to and discuss

No idea about hurling but here is my take on football.

    Leinster
    Noting to see here

    Munster
Tipp get a bye into the SF,but I reckon they will be "ridden rock solid" and get drawn against the other team that gets a bye, Kerry.

    Ulster
Will Tyrone continue their upward trend, team most likely to beat Dublin in 2016 you know ?.
Can Donegal win back Ulster, lots here not happy with Rory ?
Will Division 1 football help Cavan ?
How frigged are Monaghan and how more frigged are Armagh ?

    Connacht
Can Mayo get off the floor, again ?
How good or bad are Galway and Roscommon really, they showed us both season.

    Leinster
    Dublin.

    Munster
Kerry. Hopefully Tipp can come good again next year, Cork need to up their game after a terrible 2016

    Ulster
Tyrone, unless Donegal can make a big improvement on last year.

    Connacht
Mayo or Galway for me. I'm not convinced by Roscommon.

I reckon you are right here. They will give Cork an easy route to the Munster final in the hopes of a Cork V Kerry Munster Final in the new Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

    Cork v Waterford/Clare v Limerick

    Kerry v Tipperary

That wouldn't be a bad draw. As bad as Cork have been recently, They seem to find something extra against Kerry. The match-up usually makes for a decent final.

While I don't think there is any conspiracy out there against Tipp its the kind of bad fortune that sometimes hits smaller teams.

Limerick senior footballer get their first ever championship game in CP in 2011, and who is it against ?, Kerry.

Same with Clare this year, first ever QF, against Kerry of course.

Roscommon win Connacht in 2010 and end up playing Cork in the QF.

    Leinster hurling

    Galway v Dublin
    Offaly v round robin team
    Wexford v round robin team

    SF
    Kilkenny v wexford game winner
    Galway/dub v Offaly game winner

Well they are doing draws for both codes.

    Munster hurling

    QF
    Tipp v cork

    SF
    Limerick v clare
    Tipp/cork v waterford

No I'm taking the piss! :D

Of all the things for the GAA to fix, the Munster Football Championship would be way way down the list i'd imagine.

Trust RTE to make a simple draw into a 90 minute programme.
    Half-hour max.
    What a shower of wasters.

    Delighted to draw Limerick anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,958 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Tough draw for us but playing Tipp in the semi final will really show have we improved or not, Cork could surprise people and may win the qf u never knw. Having a game under there belts will deff be an advantage for the Qf winners

Expecting that QF to be in the new PUC with a possible Tipp vs Wat semi being there too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

A quick queation about the round robin in Leinster.

Why did Offaly get a bye and not Westmeath?

Westmeath topped the Round Robin group last year, so why don't they get the bye?

New PUC will be open for the final, no earlier. Thats what the plan was anyway.

On topic, highly doubt we'll win vs. Tipp tbh.

Cork were lucky to get Waterford in the football.

The teams that come out of the round robin have to beat the team they meet in first round of championship proper to get out of the round robin the following year. This year offaly beat laois putting laois into next years round robin while westmeath lost to galway.

If Mayo can unearth 2 or 3 more forwards....change the bloody record lads.

Your right! I totally forgot Offaly beat Laois, I had it in my head that they lost.

    Makes sense.

There's not much point having a draw for the Leinster championship. Even if you had Dublin vs a "Rest of Leinster" 15. Dublin would still win.

The only competitive province is Ulster.

The only competitive province is Ulster.

4 different teams have been among the winners of the last 10 Connacht championships in fairness.

How did they decide which teams were on each side of the draw in Ulster?

They don't. They do prelim, then who the prelim winners face and the rest of the QFs.

    Completely open draw.

Hopefully the Dublin v Wexford/Carlow game will be out of Croker again.

Fingers crossed for Meath in the final,so we can bring more misery too them.

Going by the Leinster council's logic, they'll probably play it in Mullingar

All teams in one bowl. First two out are in the preliminary round, next team plays the winner in the 4th quarter final, then they draw out the rest of the quarter finals from the 1st to 3rd.

It's not misery at this stage. It's expected.

Yep. Can't ever bate Meath often enough in Leinster finals. There'll be a better atmosphere, than the least two finals. No disrespect to WM, but the the history, just isn't there with them.

Is the semi-final football cycle Leinster/Connacht this year?

Dublin v Wex/Car in Portlaoise just to wind up Laois even more.

    Munster v Connacht for 2017.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,929 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

So my own county only have to beat Carlow and Offaly/Westmeath to get to a Leinster final. Handy :P

This has the potential to be a serious massacre if things go against Wexford/Carlow on the day.

Could actually be argued Nowlan Park would be the best venue if neutral.

Have to fancy Cork for the football after that draw.

    Dark horses.

On PUC it would be interesting to ask Frank and the lads what sort of shape the schedule is at the moment. I reckon there's a serious chance it won't be open until 2018.

Connacht has been quite entertaining over the last 10 years.

A good year for Cork will be getting out of Division 2 and not being knocked out of the championship by a team who aren't a realistic All-Ireland contender.
