What if the Roman Empire never fell. What if the Irish famine never happened. what if the americans werent discovered by europeans.

It would be so much better if we had a north and south america with their own native cultures as opposed to what we have in our world, a massive contintent with just two main cultures; Spanish and English. However despite wiping out native peoples in a manner so often overlooked, long term it probably benefited humanity and our level of communication as english would have never become as important as it has become.

Not sure about winning the WC, but definite semi-final anyways.

If Kirk and McCoy had saved Edith Keeler from being run over by a truck she would have started a pacifist group which would have delayed America's entry in to WW2. This would have allowed the nazis the time to develop a nuclear weapon and win the war.

If the Republic of Connacht had taken hold in 1798 and the French forces had replicated their success in the West throughout the rest of the country.

We'd all be speaking French and Castlebar would be the capital.
(Dublin might be a little city state with allegiance to Britain).

If Bill Clinton hadn't had a blow job from Monica Lewinsky, Hillary wouldn't be running for president. It's all just to even the score so she can have sexual relations with some young intern in the Oval Office.

If Hillary Clinton hadn't been elected president in 2016 there's a possibility that Putin wouldn't have so badly underestimated a woman president and invaded Latvia in 2018, thereby precipitating that terrible war.

Einstein goes back in time and gets Hitler into art college. Nazi Germany never emerges, leading to a Soviet invasion of Europe in the late 1940s.

Even if Europeans had treated the native Americans with respect and not slaughtered thousands of them, the diseases the Europeans brought with them would have still devastated the local populations.

Well Nazism was very popular in America in the 1930s.

Wasnt there a rally with over 22000 people in Madison Square Garden in 1929?

What if a United Ireland was achieved through the civil rights movement in the 60's? What kind of violence would have followed in subsequent years, and would Big Ian have been heading down to the Dail? What would we officially call Derry?

The trips into the north for cheap shopping that was part of my childhood wouldn't have happened. With economies of scale, our finances may have benefited, but the cost of policing would have potentially wiped that out. The combined football team would have been pretty handy in the 80's and at the latest Euro's.

How many generations would we need to go back to see that 1 small change (1 non influential person dieing for example) would effect the entire world, it all has a snowball effect, just takes a while.

    Man in the High Castle

    The Last Starship from Earth

    Watchmen

Also - The Years of Rice & Salt......
The novel explores how subsequent world history might have been different if the Black Death plague had killed 99% of Europe's population, instead of a third. Divided into ten parts, the story spans hundreds of years, from the army of the Muslim conqueror Timur to the 21st century, with Europe being re-populated by Muslim pioneers, the indigenous peoples of the Americas forming a league to resist Chinese and Muslim invaders, and a 67-year-long world war being fought primarily between Muslim states and the Chinese and their allies.

and The Two Georges - where the Brits manage to hold on to their colonies in the US.

I think the only reason WW1 happened at all was because the industrial age had produced a range of new weapons that everyone was eager to try out. They were only looking for an excuse to kick off.

Without those wars we probably wouldn't have had the peace that followed. Europeans have no appetite for fighting each other anymore. The major powers have brought themselves to a stalemate because of nuclear weapons.
