Just to be clear, these wont sell out on Friday. So you should all feel free to sleep in. No need to buy these early at all. Nope. Nosireeebob

How would that work in terms of the All-Irelands?

Wouldn't someone think of the pitch!!!

Yeah wouldn't think it's possible. It's got games every sunday in September, so unless they think they can get a gig setup on Mon/Tue, midweek gig, then back to match-ready by the Sunday, the only option would be at the end of the tour (October Bank Holiday weekend)

    Yeah they can't do that

there was talk that if the stones did croke park it would be fully seated. I thought this was nonsense but other stadium gigs they did were full seated. So the pitch could be in good nick if covered, but I suppose takes even longer to setup.

Nah, it's the bit of the stage area down the Hill 16 end that takes the brunt of it.

The grass down there is re-laid after every gig. Hence the problems with the Dubs match last week
    between the 2 gigs.

Wolf Parade playing the Button Factory 20th of November. Tickets on sale Wednesday. 20 quid, an absolute steal.

And even with the re-laying of the grass, it takes up to a week to get it back to the condition the greenkeepers are happy with and allow play. I could see it happen in October, but not a date in September.

cant see the Stones playing here that late in the year but you never know Roger Waters played the Aviva on a september night in 2013. Be cool too have a major outdoor gig take place in the autumn but will be a nightmare logiscally and the weather could mess it up too

Possibly if they sorted out the issues preventing a show this year The Rolling Stones for gig here in 2018 possibly Slane ???

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,560 ✭✭✭Wile E. Coyote

As much as I'd love it I don't see that happening. It would be very short notice for a gig of that size.

Edited. They are on tour in September :)

They are rumoured to be going in to studio to record a new album in the next few weeks.
If that is true, they will be just finishing that and then going straight on tour!!
That is fairly good going for a band no longer in their twenties. :D

    tour dates are

    9th Sep- Hamburg Germany
    12th Sep- Munchen Germany
    16th Sep- Speilberg Austria
    20th Sep- Zurich Switerland
    23rd Sep- Lucca Italy
    27th Sep- Barcelona Spain
    30th Sep- Amsterdam Holland
    3rd Oct- Kobehaven Denmark
    9th Oct- Dusseldorf Germany
    12th Oct- Stockholm Sweden
    15th Oct- Arnhem Holland
    19th/22nd/25th Oct- Paris (U Arena)

going by those dates the Only time they could do in Croke Park would be sometime from 4th-8th Oct because theres a small gap but they seem too need a 3 night rest after every gig. Friday 6th Oct possibly but theres a important soccer game on in the Aviva that night between Ireland and Moldova. They could do an indoor show in the 3arena though on the 6th ???

I bought a ticket for their Amsterdam gig.... will be sick if they announce an Ireland date late! Doubt they will though to be honest. I'd be hoping for Slane next year.

It would be a tough sell for a gig in Oct in Ireland. I know my parents went Leonard Cohen in Kilmainham years ago in Sept???? and they enjoyed the gig but the cold was quite off putting

Jake Bugg has announced an Irish tour, again appreciate artists that make the effort. Can be a pain in the side going to Dublin all the time. Looking forward to the Dolans gig if I can manage tickets.
