Does anyone know of any nice restaurants in the Dublin area that serve healthy food.

I know there are plenty of lunch options where you can get nice salads etc. but I am thinking more dinner options.

We love going out for dinner on a Sunday afternoon but as we are trying to step up our healthy eating (getting married in 6 months) we are looking for some options so that we can go out for dinner at the weekend and not feel like we are eating food that has been fried/cooked with a lot of butter etc.

Define healthy. Honestly people have different definitions of this.

Completely agree that people have different ideas of healthy.

I suppose what I mean is meals made from natural foods and as little added 'crap' as possible!
I am cooking a lot from the little green spoon at the minute so thinking something along those lines - here is an extract from her book to give you an idea of what I am looking for:

There are so many gorgeous ingredients out there that can satisfy your body’s needs as well as your taste buds. Eating real, natural food has so many amazing benefits and I’ve seen incredible changes in my digestive health, skin and mood all while eating incredibly delicious food. My cooking isn’t about giving up things, least of all taste. It’s about embracing natural, nutritious and nourishing foods. I’m constantly experimenting to develop new recipes and put a healthy twist on some old favorites. My recipes are nutrient-rich, gluten free and refined sugar free, with many paleo, dairy free and vegan options.

Ps. the restaurant I am looking for does not have to be paleo/dairy free but you get the idea. And I definitely am not vegan.

When you go for lunch on Sunday what restaurants would you usually go to and what kind of food would you eat.
There's a perception that's salads are healthy but some salads out there have more calories than a big mac and its down to the dressing moreso than whats in the salad itself.

Ye, I avoid any creamy dressings etc. in salads. usually stick to a bit of balsamic vinegar.
I work near a chopped so usually treat myself to one every 2 or 3 weeks.
Cocu near Harcourt street is another spot that does nice salads near my workplace.
other than that I would bring my lunch to work with me.

For dinner on Sunday it would probably your typical Sunday dinner type food (meat veg potatoes) or else steaks/fish etc.
I do love a nice Italian as well though.

I found Xico mexican (the old Baggot Inn) to be pretty free from sauces and very fresh. http://xico.ie/

Maybe Cornucopia or Brother Hubbard? I don't know what you're looking for specifically, I don't know that the vegetarian salad isn't prepared with loads of oil etc. You might just have to adapt to healthy options in other restaurants, like you can't go wrong with a steak + salad/vegetables and just eat fewer/no potatoes, don't eat the bread beforehand, etc etc, but it's always a bit of a gamble eating out I think!

Ever heard of Farm Restaurants? There is one on Dawson street They have some gluten free/vegan options. I was there a year ago and really liked it. They have hummus/crab/salads as starters and the mains are mainly meat/fish or vegetarian options :). You can look through the menu and see if it suits!

How about trying http://balfes.ie/food-and-drink/food/all-day-dining/ or http://www.counterculture.ie/pages/about-us, the first has a number of healthy options on its menu designed by the bodybyrne team. The second spot is all about healthy food.
